If you’re going to the Black Swan then check out the Plough first – it’s 5 minutes walk away and always has a good vibe – good for pre-drinks. Black Swan is good for ravey stuff – my mate’s doing the lights down there on Sat, but reckons it might be a bit quiet cos there’s so much other stuff going on this weekend. Duvet Vous at the Queen’s Head is a good little underground house night with a slightly older crowd (not the broccoli-head student hipsters you find at most Bristol house events). It’s just around the corner from the Plough. If you do have a vegetable haircut and like to shuffle awkwardly to slowed-down soul vocals overlaid on the same plodding beat for 10 hours, then Love Saves the Day is the main event this weekend – a two-day outdoor festival in Eastville Park (again, just down the road from the Black Swan). It’s expensive though. Headfirst Bristol is a good website that tells you what’s on in all the major venues in town.
