what's going on?

Another pretty big party this week, somewhere out in Leyton, with quite a few systems spread across the basement and groundfloor of this old cinema / Quicksave supermarket. We made our way round the back of the venue off the main road, and through a small carpark, and found a staircase leading into the squat. First up was a big room, home to I.R.S (and Headfuk as well I think), walls covered in graffiti, jungle blazing till the early hours. Past that, a tiny little Cafe Del Squat type rig was hooked up towards the front of the building, chilled music and atmosphere all night long. Stinky Pink had set up at the back of the basement in a small-ish room, doing their usual gabba / acid techno stuff, rammed full of all the continental ravers. Upstairs Red Eye were doing the same kind of thing, only to a much smaller crowd, in a much bigger room.

There was a sign up on the door this week pointing out that weapons and crack dealing were perhaps not particualrly condusive to a "free" party. Maybe this had some kind of effect - on the whole I didn't notice any attitude around the building. But, you've guessed it, it wouldn't be a London squat party at the moment without some kind of shit happening.

That aside, this was a pretty good party, Chillum was there with I.R.S and co, or so i'm told, and for once you didn't have to wade through a river of shit to get into the toilets. Things started getting a bit wet towards sunday morning, we all found ourselves soaked through as the building got more and more filthy but the sun was coming up and it'd been another night to remember (even if I can't remember half of it). Saw a lot of old faces, met some new ones, two buses back to Lewisham, nice and easy.
