what's going on?

Stonehenge, on the eve of the Summer Solstice was our first stop. The stones were opened (how do you open stones?) from 11.30pm until 7.30am, with a crowd building up, peaking at 2000-3000 people - making it a truly special night that'll I'll always remember. The energy coming off the stones was amazing......probably the first genuine E type high I've ever felt without taking anything. No trouble (as the waiting worldwide media was expecting), just human bonding amongst the stones. nice night. history in the making. glad to be part of it.

So, we drove on down to Glasto, and we were inside the festival for 8.30am on the Wednesday morning. sorted. hmmm apart from the hassle of getting in and out the festival to retrieve equipment. arse. really fucked us for a day, but we sorted it. We got settled and enjoyed the festival before the masses turned up. Friday and Saturday things started to get hectic within the walls... we decided to get out and off site.

Walking up to the field, which the systems had used for last years party, we found it to be full of cars. We could hear the bass rumbling...but didn't have a clue how to get to it. After backtracking for a bit and up a very dark lane, we finally made it to E2 car park. This field was a lot bigger than the E1 field used last time.

The field could easily hold 10,000 people comfortably .... unfortunately quite a few less than that were in attendance. In some sort of rough order, we came across.... Undertow from London kicking out trance and techno, Ape sound system from Oxford also playing trance, Substance & Ko-tic from Manchester had a huge rig, Locust from Brighton, AKA from London, Underground Sounds from London, Smokescreen, loads and loads more systems that I really didn't catch their names...but by this stage everything was turning into one big loud noise. We decided on settling at one. Undertow seemed like the one for us.

We stayed there for most of the night, with the occasional wander round. Undertow had done a great job, with loads of colourful flashing lights and UV tubes hanging from their make-shift autonomous zone. The temporary bar stayed busy, while the stall they had setup sold blankets for a quid! bargain. In fact everything in the travellers fields was a lot cheaper than the festival. The right vibe was up there for sure. The festival does tend to get a bit to money grabbing for my liking, so being on the wrong side of the wall was a pleasure. no crowds and room to dance....makes a change from the human traffic jams that we encountered on the walk over to the site.

I still managed to miss a few systems, that I really should have found... it was just too big!... Headfuk, System Co-Existance, GM Soundz and Nightstorm were all _somewhere_ in that field. I gave up. and headed back to the festival at about 6.30am.

All in all I had a great week and I really enjoyed my time in Pilton. No hassles what-so-ever between 30 of us. Wicked vibe. Looking forward to next year already!
