what's going on?

Meeting up with a few friends in Worthing, we hang around until the party phone number goes live at 11pm. Checking the directions out on a map, we discover that the venue is literally a few miles away, on the Brighton Downs.

Heading off the A27, and down a dark country road, we pass several party people walking upthe road....it's a long way, two miles or so before we see a few cars parked up at the sideof the road. Following a few cars that have turned down a very narrow dirt track, wedrive for 200-300 metres along it, before meeting a car coming the other way. Absolutely nowhere to pass at all. We eventually start reversing, and find a gap into the next field where I abandon my motor and walk in the direction of the familiar bass lines.

After about 10 minutes of walking down a steep hill, we eventually make to the valley thatthe party is being held in. Not so many people around at the minute, but parties always takea few hours to get going properly anyway.

I'm pretty sure which sound systems were present, but if you know for sure, then please correct me! Ground Zero were the first rig setup near the entrance to the valley. Techno blasted out of the system, with a few people milling around. We carry on walking... before coming across loads of people at the Future Landscapes rig. They seemed quite popular, and had a large crowd dancing all night. Euphoric trance kept the party people happy.

A third, smaller system, was a bit further up. Warped sound system. They played quite a few decent techno tunes, but didn't have so many people there. We hung around this system for an hour or so, before I decided to rescue my car from the top of the hill.

After a nightmare of a walk up the hill track, with scores of people walking the other wayto me, I eventually make it to the top. I drive down the hill, almost getting to the bottom, before someone comes up the other way! We stop, and they try to persuade me that it would bebest for me to reverse. I tell them that I've already been down there, and I know that thereis a gap, a bit further down the hill. They start reversing downhill, and after a while theysqueeze into the field adjacent to the track. I thank them, before heading into the valley.

I bring my car right up to the dance floor of the third system.... my mates are happy to have some comfort! We notice a fourth system setting up, and wander over there. Party-Possible have brought their psy-trance rig with them. Quite a bit of effort from them, and loads ofpeople dancing and chilling in the surrounding area.

It starts to get light, around 6am. and we head off for a wander in the hills that surroundus. Great view from the top. A real hidden valley in the middle of the downs. About thistime we notice the landowner watching the party from the hill in his 4x4. He doesn't look to happy about the situation.

We head back to the systems, wander round, dance, and chill. I decide to make a move around 8am, as it's quite a long drive back to Reading. Heading back along the valley, most of the systemshave packed up, with only Party-Possible rocking the valley.

I hope that the track out of here, doesn't cause as much hassle as the way in. I follow acar up the hill, and all the way along it. About 25 metres away from the road, aPolice range rover drives up the track. My car and the car in front of me, stop head to headwith the coppers. They are insisting that we back up. I refuse to at first, but after a few minutes, I reluctantly start to reverse. It's about 75 metres back to the last gap. I wasn't happy atall. At the gap, they pass, and we get the fuck out of there, and back onto the main road.

We head home. Wicked night as per usual - even if the Babylon, cause me to wreck my car evenmore than it already is.
