what's going on?

Pulling off the M40 and down a side road, we arrive at a part of the Ridgeway I have not been too before. Although I'd been to a couple of events close by, this part of the ancient track was totally new to me.

Turning off the road that cuts across the Ridgeway, I ground out the hire car I am in possession of. Deciding it's too bumpy, I abandon the motor and walk up the track. A few other cars pass us on the walk, and make it slowly towards the party site.

Eventually we make it to the first system that has set itself up on the track itself. Adrenalin from Didcot, are pretty much the first rig to get going. Beyond the rig, we could see that the party didn't stop at Adrenalin. A bit further along, Storm soundsystem from up the road in Oakley, sorted themselves out, and had the party rocking, with MC'ing and techno tunes coming out from their stack.

Dest*nation from Oxford, had a large Dub system with them. Wikkid bass heavy dub tunes all night long from their rig. Next to them was a system called Kaos.... but not the druids. They took a while to set themselves up, and were just about sorted by the time 4am had rolled around. Next up, was the smaller Dest*nation rig, playing dark drum and bass for most of the night. Quite a few people hanging around the system.

Off the Ridgeway and into the field next to the track. The Junktion 14 techno rig had teamed up with Survival to provide the party people with a kick ass sound system. Highly popular, with loads of people milling around, dancing and chilling... probably due to the large amount of space available in the field. Dub started, followed by Drum and Bass and then onto Techno. I've been told since that they kept going longest, and were the last to finish at 3pm.

Back onto the track and an interesting walk into the woods, revealed a spinning bright white light. Walking into the light was the only way to go..... very surreal and disorientating to say the least. After stumbling up the track, to the top of a small hill, past the light, 'DatSound had set themselves up in a perfect spot surrounded by trees. Minimal techno blasted out of the speakers. Certainly, when I was up there, it was a good vibe, although when I went back things were a bit quieter.

Nice night out - lots of music variety, loads of party people, loads of space under the shooting star scar'ed sky. What more could you ask for...
