what's going on?

After having to pull out of doing an outdoor party in our local area due to Cybersounds getting busted the week before, we decided to take our rig to a party in Kent we had heard about. Some of our crew went down with the PA on Friday evening, with the rest of us arriving at about 6pm on Saturday.

When we arrived, we had a conversation with a girl who (we think) was the landowners daughter, who was worried that what was supposed to be a small local party with 2 or 3 rigs, was getting out of hand, with loads of un-invited systems turning up. We sloped off feeling a bit sheepish, as we hadn't really been invited by the organisers, but by some friends in Hackney who were running a cafe at the party. When I got to the field where the party was, I was well impressed, there being about 10 rigs, a few cafes and an ecstasy testing point.

During the early part of the night, the landowner kept going around the rigs, asking people to turn down or off, as they'd had loads of complaints. Most of the rigs turned down, then back up again 30 minutes later. Eventually, the landowner told us that only one rig would be playing, to minimise the noise, but everyone (including us) ingored him and turned back on again later in the evening.

We (Citricity SS) started off with Pecker playing reggae, then Heretic playing funky techno, then Teknodriver playing acid techno. By this time, we'd drawn a crowd of 20-30 people, which was quite good considering there seemed to more rigs than punters most of the night. After Teknodriver, Billy NoMates played some breakbeat electro stuff. I went for a walkabout about 6 in the morning, and the highlight of the party for me was coming up on lovely pills and MDMA powder at the Section 6 rig (from South London) playing some mental jungle with a wicked MC and even someone playing harmonica to jungle!

I stumbled back to our rig at about 8 in the morning to play a set of electro and deep house/tech-house, but was hampered by the fact that I could hardly stand up cos I was so fucked and consequently my mixing was fuckin' appalling!

Passed out at about midday, to wake up again at about 4ish and played another set, which was much better as I was a lot more together. Go to play tunes I wouldn't normally, including Subliminal Aura's 'Ease the Pressure' and Pierre's 'Fantasy Girl'. Left the party at about 6.30 pm Sunday evening, with no signs of it stopping, for a long drive back to Brum.

Have later heard that there was a mix up with messages and United Systems were giving out directions to this party being the main one with the Spirals etc, but I think that was actually in Hampshire.
