what's going on?

Got word of a party happening in deepest darkest Wales a few weeks before the Easter weekend gathering. A request was made for a couple of UV canons to come up from the South, and before I knew it I was driving up from Reading towards the Welsh border. We set off on Saturday afternoon, and after a few boring hours on motorways, the landscape changed from English molehills to huge Welsh mountains stretching off into the distance. I've been to South and mid Wales before, but not this far North so I was quite excited about visiting this part of the country.

My trusty navigator did a great job of getting me to the nearest town to the forest, and from then on it was down to the dodgy directions I'd been sent (cheers Stig!). 'Turn left at the pub, down a steep hill, turning on a bend' was all we had to go on. We found the pub, but didn't realise the 'steep hill' would be 6 miles further down the road. Not giving up faith, we kept going on along the narrow road, until finally a steep hill did appear, and lo and behold a bend was at the bottom... and glowsticks at the side of the road and an alien in the tree. This has to be it! Turning onto the forestry track, we spotted a few vehicles up ahead and kept going. We parked up finding the track had been blocked by loads of cars. It was about 8pm and we felt pretty good that we found the thing in a reasonable time!

Walking down the track, past the cars blocking the track, past a caravan and walked 100 metres further to the site. The party had been setup with loads of backdrops surrounding it and was in need of UV. A chillout space was set in place and a campfire was roaring away. A few people had camped in the woods, but seeing as it was dark I didn't think it was gonna be possible to stick my tent up! We grabbed the canons and the place came alive with colour. As it was still early, some chilled beats were coming from the system. We found a place at the fire and caught up with some old friends.

By 11pm, the music pace was turned up and full on psy-trance emitted from the speakers. Quite a few people turned up, considering how remote the place was it was enough to fill the party space. People danced until late to the Resonance DJ's. A top friendly vibe beamed from everybody there, and the party carried on long into the night. Things get a bit hazy from here onwards. I know I had a great time and chatted, danced and had fun, and before I knew it, it was light and the venue revealed it's true beauty.

I passed out around 8am, but woke up a few hours later. We went for a walk back down to the party and chilled by the fire. Trance was still coming from the speakers and as far as I know it carried on until Monday morning. ... well they were planning it! Just before we were about to leave around noon Sunday, a Police helicopter made a quick flyby. I really don't understand how they managed to find it, seeing as it was a long way from the nearest town. Luckily we didn't see any patrols on the way back down to the main road and started off on the long trip home. Top night in the woods! cheers to everyone who sorted it out.
