what's going on?

We'd been planning on heading to the Reading party that was due to take place in a warehouse near Calcot, Reading. As we were at the Awakening, word got through to us that the party had been stopped by the old bill. I heard that Psychosis were putting on another party after the week befores successful event. We rang the info line and the directions sounded almost the same as the previous week, which was a bit confusing at first but we soon set off in the rough direction of Dorking at 2.30am.

Got to the right turning on the A25, and drove up a long steep hill for a few miles before reaching the summit. Up ahead was the familiar jumble of motors along the side of the road and a woods carpark jam packed. We parked up, got out and listened for the repetitive beats in the distance - but head nothing. hmmm bit weird - there must be something going on with all these cars around. We took a walk through the carpark and along a track up a hill. luckily I had a torch - would have been a nightmare without it. We bumped into a few people, telling us to keep walking along the track. eventually we walked into the party space, with 3 or 4 campfires burning brightly and keeping the munters warm.

As we milled around for a bit, the roar of a generator came into life and the party started up... 300 or so people were around and the dancefloor was packed to the sounds of Psychosis. We danced for a while, took a wander around the woods, stood around a few fires to keep warm, talked to a few people and had a pretty good night. Taking a walk back down the track to the carpark, we get in the comfort of the motor and chilled there for a bit. after a while, we spotted an old fella walking towards us down the road. As he got closer, we saw he had a map and walking stick. He stopped at the car in front, I guess to ask for directions and carried on along the road. strange sight to see a night hiker at 5.30am!

We walked back to the party just before it got light, and the Beech tree sheltering the party suddenly dominated the gathering. A truly magnificent tree if i'd ever seen one - great site for a party! The dancefloor was still packed and techno keep coming from the stack. It was still pretty cold and we stood around a fire to keep warm. We went on a bit of a wander through the Bluebell woods around us and found a clearing amongst the trees, sat down, skinned up and got stoned with a wikkid view of the surrounding countryside.

Back at the party and we decided to head off after a while and made the long walk back to the carpark, before rejoining the A25 and headed in the direction of Guildford. Great party from Psychosis. Read what the local paper had to say about it here.
