what's going on?

Choice between two parties this weekend, BDi in South Oxfordshire, or System Co-Existance in Sussex - we chose BDi as it was a bit closer. BDi always put on a bit of a decent party, and this time was no exception.

We pulled into the meeting point around midnight, to be greeted by at least 30 cars all ready and waiting for the convoy to take them to the party. 12.15 and the horn goes. We tag on the end of the convoy and follow it through a small village before turning up a country road. Up and down a few hills, before the convoy stops, and slowly turns into a field, and along a track before parking up. We get out and notice it's strangely quiet - where's the tunes? BDi normally have the tunes going from the moment the convoy arrives.

We have a wander about and find a couple of soundsystems being put together. They've placed the party inbetween a field and some woods. Livid/BDi have teamed up - using Livid's massive soundsystem - you have to see it too believe it. 12 huge speakers - 4 generators to keep everything going! It's the largest system I've seen - I guess at least 20-25K. They have a few initial problems with a dodgy amp, but eventually get the party kickin' - techno blasts out all night.

Mutant Pollutant are also present, with a smaller rig than Livid - they too have a few problems setting up, but have a wicked revolving light. Drum and Bass is MP's speciality - and they keep the jungle massive happy.

Brave Nu Krew set up on the other side of the field, and have problems getting their system going. I didn't actually get to hear them at all.

Going for a wander in the woods, we came across the Bellyache Cafe - playing dub tunes, and generally having a nice chilled out place. Not many people knew about it, it was more a case of people accidentally finding it - rather than a big sign pointing to it.

A Police Landrover turned up about 2.30, they didn't look that happy, and started slowly reversing back down the track. I reckon about 200-300 people were there, and everyone seemed to be on the right vibe. Nightstorm were, as usual in attendance.

unfortunately for me, I had to leave early due to a commitment the next day, but I defiantly saw the start and middle of a great party.
