what's going on?

Driving down to Brighton seemed to take ages. We pulled up at a petrol station and hung around until the venue was announced on the phone number we had been given. The party organisers were running a bit late, and by the time the venue had been announced it was 12.30. We headed straight to the venue, being the Devil's Dyke. Found it with out too much trouble. Parked up and wandered over a fence into a field with long wet grass in it.

Standing and listening for any tunes, a generator suddenly kicks into action from down in the valley. It's dark and we face quite a decent into the valley. Our feet are quite wet by now, but we carry on hoping it will be drier in the valley floor. We are almost the first to arrive - the two systems down here are still being setup. We sort out a make shift base and get comfatable. A few more people are turning up, and by the time the first system is switched on around 150 people are there. A few fires spring up and people instantly gather around them trying to dry their feet.

The 2nd system has a bit of trouble sorting itself out, but eventually gets going. A few cars attempt the drive down from the top of the hill into the valley. It was quite amusing watching the cars drive down the hill, not having a clue where they were driving. Most of them, decide it was wiser to stay at the top of the hill. One 4 ton truck comes straight down the hill, and gets stuck for about an hour. In the end it comes down very slowly, and sets itself up as a cafe.

By now there are around 300 people or so, Techno from the main rig has quite a few people dancing. A third system turns up about 4am and within an hour is playing acid trance. Around 6.30 and the sun comes up. As it starts to get light, we discover what a beautiful place we have come to, lush rolling green hills stretch for miles.

Driving home around 7.30, we stop for an amazing view. Nice.
