what's going on?

We drove up from Reading in a small convoy of 7 cars, and headed for Cholsey Down on the Ridgeway. We arrived at the bottom of the track around 12.30, and made the slow journey up the mile or so of harsh bumpy track.

Up at the top of the track and a small party was happening, we parked up and wandered about for a bit. The system was fucking loud, and three decks had been setup. Drum and Bass played until about 3am, which was followed up by some heavy techno. People from Ooops and Engineering soundsystems had got together and hired a rig to do tonights party.

The evening was pretty warm and the stars were in full effect. We got a fire on the go, after walking down a long track to a small woods to collect firewood. Just off this track was a large patch of wild Sunflowers - not something you stumble across everyday - a few were picked and made their way back to the party.

Around 150 people were there at the peak of the evening. My mate had trouble getting his car out of the party - some guy had blocked the track and refused to move (probably knowing that you could get your car past on the other side of the hedge) so my mate thought he'd drive the other way up the track (without asking anyone if there was another way round) and see if they're was another exit back onto the road - he drove for a mile and a half into even more bumpy wilderness, before giving up and driving back to the party - only for me to tell him there was a way round. Most amusing.

As it became light, people started to move into their cars to keep warm. The soundsystem kept going though, and evenutally stopped playing techno, and went back onto drum and bass.

No Police were spotted all night, a few people in 4x4's came by to see what was going on. I left about 6.30am while the sun was just coming up.
