what's going on?

The Techno rig of Junktion 14, sort out a party in a disused hut on the Ridgeway. The hut has been used before, so I have no problems in remembering it's whereabouts. As I approach the destination, a small traffic jam has halted our journey. Somebody comes over and explains that the farmer has gone ballistic, and is chases vehicles in his Land Rover - rumour has is that he has rammed a car. At this point, we are unsure whether to proceed. We let the small convoy, drive past the farmer who is parked 100 metres down the road - we watch from a distance, and see that they have passed safely. The farmer follows them. We follow on. As we get within sight of the party site, we have to let the farmer pass us on the road as he is coming back down. He stops us, and asks where we are going. I mumble that we're going to the barn, he tells us that the police have been called and that the party will be broken up soon. He has a lot of faith in the police!

We finally make it to the site, and park up. A short walk up the track, and we arrive at the hut. Fifty or so cars, are parked all over the place. Nightstorm cafe have setup to one side. Inside the hut, J14 have a 2.5k rig at one end, and a bar at the other. A nice set of Trance comes on, and after a while the dancefloor is full. At this point the police turn up, on foot and in a helicopter. They shine their lights on and in the hut, and soon bugger off.

Drum and Bass comes on for an hour or so, with plenty of people getting into the swing of things. It's pretty cold outside, but inside it is a lot warmer. We stick around here for a bit, before going back to the car for supplies. As we are locking up the car, a police car arrives and stops next to us. We follow them up the track. It turns out that the police had brought up the Environmental Health people (at 3am no less!). The system organisers have a chat with them, and the Environmental Health bloke, see's no reason for the party to stop. No-one had complained (apart from the farmer). To quote the Health officer - 'have a good party'. nice.

Back inside the hut, and the music continues uninterrupted. A short Acid Tekno set is played, and then a Techno set from DJ Tek (Exodus), whips up the dancefloor. Some top tunes from Tek. After his set, we make a move home - it's about 6am, and the party is still in full swing.

After last week's, Junktion 14 Acid Trance party, things seems to be looking good for J14 collective. Even though it was word of mouth for both parties, they remain very popular, with a strong following. Last party for the year, but I'm sure in the Spring, we will be promised some wicked parties from this lot.
