what's going on?

We had a party planned to go to, but is called off due to a number of reasons - mainly the weather. It's now 10pm and we really have to go out somewhere - anywhere. I do the ring around and find out of an Insanity/Techtonic party happening in London. We sort ourselves out and jump in the motor. Driving into London turns out to be quite a challenge as it happens to be very windy - we come across several trees that have fallen across the road. We make it to the meet up point in South London. Get out the car and go for a bit of a wander - no people what so ever - police car pasts us, and eye's us up. We get a bit worried at this point. We hang around for another 15 minutes or so and see a few cars down the road. We pull up behind and see the cars are starting to move in a small convoy - not knowing where they're off to we tag on the end. A fast chase across the streets of London trying to keep up with the lead car, takes us through the Rotherhide tunnel. We are taken down a dead end street in Whitechapel and told to park up - not much space, but we find somewhere.

Loads of people are queueing at a door leading into a big warehouse. We join the queue - which soon turns into chaos. A fiver to get in - which is fair enough.

Once inside it's dark, with full on strobes and dry ice making it differcult to walk to the other side of the room. We find Insanity soundsystem in here. Another door leads to a DnB soundsytem and a small drinks bar. It's a bit more chilled in here, but still very loud. A door at the end of this room leads to yet another system, with the worlds strongest strobe light - I have trouble walking again.

We venture back to Insanity - which seems to be the best of the bunch. A few hours go by, my mate helps at the tea stall and we meet a few people. A staircase is noticed in a dark corner, we see a few people going down, so we follow and find yet another room - Techtonic have setup in here - and it really is kicking off down here. Quality tunes.

We stayed down in the basement for most of the evening, with the occasional walk around. At about 7am we made a move back to the car for the long drive back to Reading - I still think we're in South London, so I cross the river again in total confusion. We make it back in one piece though. I think London warehouse parties are very different from the outdoor parties in the home counties - they tend to have a slightly darker atmosphere. It's not a bad thing, but you notice these things.
