what's going on?

We managed to make it down to Glastonbury on the Wednesday, got a lovely site pitched and went for a wander. I was eventually told about the Traveller site outside of the festival in car park E1 during the evening. We decided that we'd take a walk over there on the Thursday evening and check out the soundsystem.

Getting to gate 3 we had to ask a few people where E1 car park was, we were soon to discover it was a half hour walk, through the car parks and down a country road. Walking down the road we could hear a soundsystem kicking off, we turned into the E1 field and found it was full of traveller cars, coachs, trucks all crammed in with no structure to the layout what so ever. Everywhere we went in the field, we'd find another system. Unfortunately it was still Thursday night and not so many people had heard about the site yet. Only one system, Tribe of Twats, had a decent amount of people dancing. Close by was Smokescreen soundsystem from Nottingham, they had an impressive system setup, but no-one was there at all. Wandering around further, we discovered another four or five unknown systems, pumping out tunes, again, no was dancing. We headed back to the Twats soundsystem, via the MAD bar for Tequlia shots.

The Twats did a great job of keeping the music going, with at least 100 people dancing throughout the night until 6am, when we left for the long walk back to the tents. We stopped via an unknown system in the car park. A few people were milling about, but not really enough, so we carried on back to the festival.

Friday night had been reserved for getting lost in the festival, and Saturday night had been reserved for Underworld, Orbital and then on to the traveller site again. During the Friday we had told as many people as we could about the party, and we knew a few more people would turn up as the gossip was spreading around the festival about the parties. We made the long walk over to the party site again after Orbital. This time a lot more people were milling around, it was still early, about 1am. We had a few J's, before getting up and wandering around the site again. By about 2am the whole place had come alive, and it was a proper full on mini tekinval. Four of the systems had good attendances, with around 800 people in the field.

We stuck with the Twats system again, and everyone had a mad one dancing. Atmosphere was amazing with everyone shouting, cheering and having a wicked time - I know half of the people at the festival would have had a great time there, but you had to make the effort to get over there to be rewarded! Nice bouncy Techno was played all night, with a few classics chucked in for good measure. The lighting system had improved since we had been there on Thursday - they had only a few christmas tree lights at first, but by Saturday night, a full on lighting rig had been setup.

Leaving about 6am, we walked back to our tents - at least an hour worth of walking!! and it started raining on the way back., but we had had a good night, so it didn't really bother us too much.

Other Soundsystems spotted around the site.

Tipi field on Sunday night. Return to the Source DJ's were present. Soundsystem was housed inside a Wigwam! Broke for half an hour or so, losing a lot of people.
Unknown soundsystem in camping field next to Gate 6. Kept us awake all Sunday night. Some good mixing though.
Rainbow Dragon pedal powered soundsystem in Healing Fields - party was kicking when I went past at one point.
Cafe in the back lanes of the Green Fields. Plenty of people dancing. Top music.
Unknown Soundsystem in Car Park 3. Not so many people - but It was 6am on Friday when we visited.
System Co-Existance in Car Park 3. I didn't make it up there unfortunately, but heard about it.
Energy 24, Indigo energy drink's soundsystem in market area.
