what's going on?

We set off in a two car convoy up to Milton Keynes for the Junktion 14 party. Leaving Reading around 10.30pm, we arrived at the entrance to the venue at midnight. Unfortunately the track had been blocked off with a pile of manure. We parked up and walked deep into the woods - not having a clue where we were going, but decided it was probably better than hanging around the cars until the police would turn up. After wandering around the woods for a bit, we eventually found a clearing in the woods and a few vehicles had managed to find a back way in. None of the soundsystems had setup, and we had to hang around for an hour or so, before the systems were up and running.

While waiting, the police turned up - and they were quite sound about the event taking place. We stood near by and listened in on their conversation. They mentioned that a helicopter might fly over and take some aerial shots - but that never happened. Police had also blocked off a few of the entrances, and were apparently towing away vehicles left on the road. I went back to my car, and found that the mound of manure had been partly shifted. A police car was blocking the entrance to the track from the road, so all I could do was drive over the mound and get my motor up to the party site.

By the time I had sorted getting my car up to the site, all the soundsystems were working - the systems go under the name of Junktion 14 when partying together. An old army tent housed one of the systems, and a 2k speaker stack was pumping out some wicked tunes, an Exodus DJ came on about 4am and had the crowd jumping up and down.

In the far bottom corner of the clearing, a small techno system had setup, they had a few people dancing at the start, as they were the first system to get setup. Up the hill from them, was another Junktion 14 rig playing DnB, Jungle and had lots of people dancing. Cutslo (Locust remix), one of my favourite tunes came on as we were wandering through at one point - quite a moment I have to say...

In the top corner, was a rather cool J14 techno system. We made this one base camp and had a top time there. They had setup in the tree's, with some really cool backdrops hanging from branches with a couple of UV cannon's lighting up the place. At about 5am, another system called 'King of Kings' from London came up and setup. They played dub and were very loud indeed - dub echoed all around the clearing. The other systems were drowned out, unless you were reasonably close to them. Apparently there was also another sixth system playing house that turned up and hid in the woods - I didn't see it though.

We reckon in total the place had about 800 people there, with the three main systems having about the same amount of people at each one. At about 4-5am it started to get light, the weather was lovely and warm - couldn't have asked for a better night weather wise.

8am and the sun started to shine and warm up the whole place. Many cups of tea later from Nightstorm, and we had to make a move around 9am - it's a long way back to Reading!. Junktion 14 really did a good job (apart from trying to get your cars to the site!), I'll defiantly be going back - it's was worth the effort!!

I've now been told that the dub rig left about 3pm, Both the Jungle systems left around 4pm and the J14 techno system left around 11pm! Free fruit was handed out at 10am, and the police turned up again at around 11am, just one patrol car. They sat around for about 20 minutes asking people if they'd had a good time! Top night J14!
