  • Last weekend my best friend did quite a lot of speed and was up all Friday night. The next night she did about a pills worth of MDMA. All this week she has had chronic back ache. I don’t really see any link here but she is convinced that the drugs and back ache are connected. She often gets this when she does coke.

Is this common? I’ve never experienced it myself and I was just wondering if its coincedence or not. Does anyone else suffer from this?

    Thanks

Where abouts on her back? It could be her kidneys if its middle/lower half.

when you’re on speed you don’t notice discomfort to any real degree. just wiggling about all night will strain your muscles. i gave myself whiplash years ago after a night of speed and hallucenogen abuse by dancing like a twat. I was in bed for nearly a fortnight

amphet and coke increase endurance by shutting down the responses to the bodys warning signals of tiredness or pain – making it easy to overdo things and feel the consequences later.

Cocaine also has an analgesic (pain killing) effect which could account for your friend not noticing any aches and pains until later!

If its common after every weekend and starting to affect life during the wek I’d suggest calming things down for a bit – but on a positive note I don’t think any of this is permanent damage. I’m in my 30s now and can still go partying, do manual work such as DIY or working on sound and video equipment or ride my bicycle on 15-20 mile trips without any discomfort and I don’t consider myself to be “super-fit”!

Post party and drug backache is very common – I’m surprised that you say that you’ve never experienced it.

It could be muscular or it could be kidney related, who knows, I’m not gonna attempt an online consultation, but either way taking it e-z and looking after yourself generally does the trick.
