  • TBH I’m glad this didn’t happen in my schooldays, I’d never have got any GCSEs and probably would be inside by now!

    Pupils arrested over ecstasy find
Two schoolgirls from Lancashire were arrested after six pupils took what was thought to be the drug ecstasy during a school break, police say.

The teenagers were arrested at a school in Blackburn on Tuesday after police were contacted by ambulance crews.

The schoolgirls, both aged 14, were released without charge, one pending further investigation.

The six pupils, aged between 14 and 15, were taken to hospital but were sent home on Wednesday.

Police are carrying out inquiries at the school, and are examining a quantity of tablets that were seized.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “When we got to the school six students were showing signs they had consumed the drug and were taken to hospital.

“We found less than 10 pills.”

Seven pupils have been excluded from the Witton Park High School.

One girl is facing possible permanent exclusion from the 1,065-pupil school.

Head teacher John Gosling said: “Incidents of this nature are pretty rare.

“We are now working with the police investigating the matter.”

when i was about 14 i used to take mushrooms at lunchtime, and once with some friends we took LSD (in those days a good e cost 15 quid)

once i took about 200 liberty caps and spent the peak of the trip in an english exam 😉

i had to make a presentation to the class that counted towards my final gcse score and i scored A1! by talking openly and honestly about my dead grandfather while tripping heavily:rolleyes:

    i wouldn´t recommend it

    or would i?

this isn´t new, in my eyes

bhut not a good idea except fotr the head strong

many years ago me and my friends were once quizzed by the local CID whilst tripping and it was amazing how calmly we handled this –

but in the wrong set and setting younger people could easily freak out…a school is full of authority figures with the attendant paranoia this causes which doesn’t help. If I was gurning in my lessons I would have prolly ended up trashing a classroom and getting sectioned!

TBH its no worse than our own schooldays in the 80s/early 90s but its far easier to get anything these days than it was in the 80s and 90s.

The problem here was the girls freaked out, Ambulance was deployed and they got caught

(BTW paramedics do not sign the hippocratic oath so they can pass whatever info to OB they want to)

I feel sorry for the girls, they will now all get bollocked by their parents, may get juvenile caution which is noted on their their school record as well and may affect 6th form/university applications 🙁

the school will also be really harsh as its all over the fucking media now.

IMO they should have bunked off skool and gone to their friends house or a field to chill out – I bet the effects would have worn off and then the worst they could get done for is bunking off (near the end of term anyway) instead of being arrested…

Of course if someone is really ill (such as difficulty breathing etc) then Ambulance must be called and the people with the patient may have to face the consequences; but most of the time the problems caused are mental rather than physical.

IMO being abruptly carted into casualty with blue lights, uniforms all around is gonna freak some1 out 10 times more than just letting them chill out in a safe place.

    Another similar report…

FFS kids, this sort of stuff will lead to even more clampdowns, and plays straight into the hands of prohibitionists, and gets your school record marked – either wait until the weekend or bunk off!

    Ecstasy pupils taken to hospital
Four pupils at a Lancashire school were taken to hospital after apparently swallowing ecstasy pills.

The 14-year-old girls, who are pupils at Primet High School, in Dent Street, Colne, were taken to Burnley General Hospital on Thursday morning.

Pupils were called to a special assembly where teachers and police warned of the dangers of drugs.

The girls, who had taken tablets with a heart motif, were released from hospital in the afternoon.

Lancashire Police said they believe the tablets were ecstasy but said they did not think the girls had taken them at school.

Det Insp Dermott Horrigan said: “This is an isolated but very serious incident which led to four pupils being taken to hospital. “Thankfully, it appears that none of them have done themselves any long-term damage although things could potentially have been a lot worse. Young people elsewhere in the country have died after taking ecstasy.”

when i went to ‘Dam with kingston college on an art trip, there was a similar deal (although the girls in question were seventeen). they had never even really smoked before, and had done a load of space cakes and then some shrooms when they didnt feel immediately fucked off the cake. they had felt really fucked, so they had gone back to the hostel to chill. whereupon they were discovered by a teacher.

i was down in the bar about to go out for the evening, when i saw my life class tutor with the weight of the world on his shoulders. he told me there were these two girls upstairs tripping their tits off and that the tutor in the room was freaking out and worrying and trying to have a go at them, but couldnt get any sense out of them. nightmare.

i persuaded him to let me up, to these two extemely frightened looking girls and probably worse looking forty yr old battleaxe of a tutor.basically both side s had just wound each other up untill they all looked SO distressed. well funy, actually.

i managed to shoo her out of the room, and just had to sit with them for ten minutes, talking to them about the sky out side, and the birds singing, and the reflection of water and got them into a half passive mindset. then i told the tutors to leave them be till the morning, and not to really talk to them about it till they got back.
mission. but indicative of what shoddy drugs training tutors get, i mean that old bitch had no clue why they were like they were, event tho she knew theyd done shrooms. she just made the situation twenty times worse by freaking out the girls. i was shocked, specially in art college, where you’d have thought this was normal.

in a-levels i was a student govener, and got in with the head. he knew all the dealers and where they sold from, and kept it like that, he said, because if he busted them then new people would take over and he would know who they were. that what i call sensible drugs policy.

Don’t be fooled, many of the staff in further education colleges are as narrow-minded as those in schools. I once attended a course to train potential lecturers at my local city community college (which is supposed to have a good reputation for arts and design).

The lecturer kept complaining about drugs use in college and there needed to be more authoritarian rules, and the (then only planned) declassification was a bad idea. More ironic is that he also pointed out he had glaucoma which was affecting his eyesight, and yet refused to even accept the use of cannabis for medical purposes! It actually worried me that these people even become teachers (and definitely put me off the idea of a career in education).

As for that stupid bitch she had no right to discipline the girls anyway if they were not harming anybody, as they were not even in the UK, the girls had not commited any major offence under NL legislation, nor were they bringing the college into disrepute…

The worst i ever done on my school lunch was share one can of been with 2 of my friends… we were the shiz!

Yeah, I thought I was a rebel at that age for not wearing my tie correctly lol.

Really is quite sad actually that kids that young are exposed to such a thing, should at least be waiting until your body figures out what this whole puberty thing is all about before you start experimenting with such things

to be fair it was only a year later (age 15) when I first took amfetamine in tablet form; but these were diverted pharms (a friend at the time was prescribed them legally with a great excess of tablets for a legitmate medical condition (not even ADHD but a worse one where not taking the stuff could be life threatening for him) – I already had access to all the formulary data (from a book my Dad had somehow obtained fairly recently in spite of him not having worked in healthcare for over 15 years) and another book written by some Danish folk who simply said

don’t take this kind of stuff during class time; the last place you will want to be when high on these is in school; especially as they might actually make you want to learn stuff but at your pace and interest rather than the education system. So wait until the summer holidays or other free time; and be prepared if a friend feels ill to help them get better without panicking.”

Many of us knew what MDMA was but it was way expensive back then; not widely available and dealers wouldn’t actually sell you drugs if you looked too young (they were and are often parents themselves!). I did use cannabis fairly regularly in sixth form (I think this is called year 12/13 now and for those outside the UK is high school at age 16-19); probably didn’t do my A-level grades much good and I’d already had fairly serious mental health issues brought on by the pressure of exams; (I still have great trouble with any sort of exam or test) and I didn’t last long at University either but to some extent moderate use of these drugs kept me sane enough to avoid getting into activities that could have actually ended up knowingly harming others.

Even then it was ultimately a combination of constantly lying to society (including your own family) and to an extend holding them to ransom so I can see why non drug users don’t want to simply give in to the pressure…
