Hi Kirsti! Welcome to partyvibe!
Speed IMO has an undeservedly bad reputation compared to other drugs – often because people binge on it and/or do not realise a little goes a long way.
I used it for a considerable amount of my life when I was more heavily involved in the rave scene.
There were times when I was suffering minor physical health problems but these were mostly due to the lack of sleep which allows your body to be attacked by viruses and bacteria rather than overdosing or mental problems.
Some people who knew me at the time thought that the use of speed was making me “angry and cynical”. This was untrue; I have always been angry and cynical over the state of the world and politics etc; since I was a young lad and long before I touched drugs of any kind.
In many ways the use of recreational drugs gave me some short-lived euphoria to appreciate the good things in life and gave me energy and motivation to make things in my life better and to help others.
I also have a good job (I’ve been in full time employment since 1992 bar 6 months after the dot-com downturn in 2001) , a house (including being able to keep up mortgage payments) and good relations with family and friends;
I also look about 12 years younger than I actually am so I don’t think speed or any drug has harmed me all that much 😉
There is no “upper age limit” on recreational drug use and no “rave-by” date stamped on your body.
However if any of these things happen..
that is the time to cut down on your drug use. otherwise party on raaa
hi kirsti!
i love a wee dab of speed but when i first started i proper over done it(i was 16 and stupid) started doing it at the weekend then the weekend began to start earlier and earlier so i was taking it mondays at work to keep me going then before i knew what was going on i was on it every day and (i quote my mother)”looking like i had a terminal illness”my moods were terrible and i did a lot of things i regret.Luckily for me my then girlfreind sorted me out and now i have learnt from my mistakes and only use it for recreational purposes as aposed to just using it to get through the day.i also know a lot of people twice my age been doing it for years and they dont seem to have any lasting side affects so i think you’ll be fine!
welcome to partyvibe kirsti
i think speed is quite an evil drug
loads of people think it only affects your body and not your mind. that simply isn’t true
i had a total mental breakdown as a result of having constant, easy access to cheap, high quality speed and never wanting to miss a party
that was years ago, but the smell, or even hearing the name now, makes me shudder
if you wanna stop, take a break now
at least that way you know you can take a break

All recreational drugs can be if you do too much of them, or are not willing to exercise self control (and it is hard when you have good sources and good parties) – speed, pills, cannabis etc.. sadly this is happening a lot these days and many people go through a stage like this
most survive though, but only after passing some of the burden onto people close to them or onto the state (via the NHS or when they do something silly and end up being processed through criminal justice system) – unfortunately this is why we have drugs prohibition in the first place.. if a user can stop themselves getting this far everyone wins in the end.
one danger of speed (more so than other drugs) is the extended time you are kept awake for and how it does not allow your brain to rest..
People who push themselves beyond their limits and/or deprive themselves of sleep without drugs (such as working long hours) will eventually experience mental health issues anyway and act irrationally or anti-socially. This happens anyway with other drugs but speed is better at keeping you awake!
Kirsti – it does sound though like you are getting to a stage where you are taking more than you wish to (your comment “where is the good stuff”? may mean you are getting tolerance to it) and you mention “bad sessions” so its probably worth calming down just so as not to jepoardise the good things in life like your house, being in work etc….
its not easy when you are young and their is peer pressure; may even involve spending time on your own or with a different circle of friends for a bit..
Thanks for your replies! and good advice from both sides of my argument wiv myself! I think im just going to get out more as i am gettin bored with just me and my partner doin it and me occasionly sneaking off to see my mates (My partner is completely anti social and hates going out and meeting people). So with or with out him i am going to go out 2nite and get well smushedddddd with my mates! lol, I think im too young yet to give up wreckin sessions but i know i have to one day, maybes have a few wknds off 2 to prove to myself i can do it,
Thanks Guys & Gals

You 2…Wat you up to this wknd???:weee:

good idea – I’d at least try to discuss this with your partner (and find out why he hates meeting people- often in blokes in a relationship this may even be insecurity/jealousy if other lads are giving you attention; its a competitive world.)
OTOH he may just be shy and/or wary of new people (I am – and that is one reason why I have taken recreational substances in the first place as if I get the right dose it makes me more willing to speak to new people etc)
I’ve seen couples in this situation before and if both of you are not careful things can get really dark (including serious rows and the end of the relationship as the trust breaks down) so at least go carefully and talk it over first..
Hey Kirsti:love:
my two cents worth on the speed issue –
drugs take any problems you have and make it imperative to deal with them as they bring them to the surface where they are harder to ignore [this is because you are pushing the limits of your body and mind by taking them [if you stayed up for days straight they would probably also become more apparent]
in excess all things, even water!, are bad for you:wink:
WRT to the partner situation it sounds like the unresolved issue of wanting/not wanting to go out is driving a big wedge between you both –
sit down and talk it out before the relationship goes into freefall and you end up without him if that is not what you want:groucho:
my sisters ex suffered from scitzophrenia (bad spellin i know!) and had massive mood swings from the amount of speed he did when he was younger.
welcome to PV anyhow kirsti :bounce_fl
