Russell Johnstone, 19, from Alloa, collapsed at the Arches in the city centre in the early hours of Sunday.
dayum!! that is bad news… absolutely gutting.. I wish people were much more careful in knowing what they were taking 😥
This happened last saturday at The Arches.. and the nite that was on was Inside out a total commercial trancey nite..
They had Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, Toca Dsico, SOnnny Whartonm, Anne Savage, Andy Whitby, Marc Doc, Barry Connell, William Daniel, Colin Bell, Nicky Low playing..
Must admit they are really strict with drugs in there.. i’ve known a few ppl to get busted in there in the toilets like…
The place gets sooooo hot and there really isn’t anywhere to cool down and on nites like this the place is packed out..
Its old railway arches converted hence the name and has very little decent ventilation
Sad for this guys family though.. :group_hug

yeah thought it was overcrowding which was the cause…
I don’t mean this as a diss to various parts of the country as its babylon doing this but TBH I think (especially since I use DSI a bit these days) that because of the drugs crackdowns of the last 12 years legal events are being pushed further and further away from “nicer” areas and also away from London, SE and Eastern England…
they are being pushed into less suitable venues, often in inner city high crime areas in the Midlands, North and Scotland or in South Central England (portsmouth, southampton) and its not because they are “welcomed” but because feds can’t lock down these areas as much due to real crime happening loads..
There are also less and less legal dance events due to the clampdowns (if a venue gets busted for drugs or drug gang related violence and is put on closure the owner is fucked, they have basically lost their livelihood)
Some of my mates round here are promoters but few of them can find venues who will accept a “rave-type” crowd as the managers all say “ooh, theres drugs and the cops will close us down” (especially with all this undercover visits and electronic sniffer dogs malarkey)
So clubland today seems like its all done with bad vibes and bad grace and paranoia.
The venue owners want the money from the event but they don’t want the drugs because they are para of the feds,
They have all these “men in black” bouncers, which of course make people take more drugs (perhaps near overdose levels) before they go in to avoid being busted, the venues are over capacity anyway because they are taking in punters from outside the normal area as nowadays you have to travel to find an event
and this is why people die; because there is zero tolerance rather than it saving people.
It shows how harsh the war on drugs is, the fucking puritans who stubbornly refuse to accept any drug use are sacrificing young lives to enforce their moral codes. They are no better than the “religious” terrorists IMO, its just that they are killing individual people slowly with their moralising than loads at once..
Well said

A-fucking-men…
It’s sickening :hopeless:
I whole heartedly agree with you Alex.. them stating their zero tolerance policy just reinforces that fact.
I’ve only really been to one place where the club doesn’t tolerate wreckheads (as in didn’t have a chillout/cool down area or at least somewhere to go to cool off) and that was nation in Liverpool and god dayum it got hot in that place. They even had paramedics in the club just walking round making sure no-one collapses etc.
Luckily for me all my mates love to rave but they all know when they need to have a break and chill out. Infact I think most of them prefer the chilling and chatting shit oppose to sweating your bollocks off all nite.
Like General said it is shit that these club promoters put on these nites that will attract people who will do drugs and won’t make it a safer place to use.
