It rarely happens unless Im on a night out. On a night out I get hit on an average of about ten times.
In the smoking area I get friendly small talk and just drop in that I have a bf as earky as possible (I dont just blurt it out but tie it into the topic of conversation). On the dance floor it happens alot, i just turn my back on them subtly. Sometimes they just compliment my looks straight off and I just smile politely and walk away.
I actually dislike all of it, even when I was single.
The best way for a man to ask me out is to just make me feel at ease. Talk to me like a human and introduce me to your mates, friendly, chilled and at ease. When theres sexual chemistry we just mutually decide to kiss and it goes from there.
My best advice for men would be to not ‘aggresively flirt’ or use pick up lines. It helps if a man gives of a vibe where hes attracted to you, but wont be too bothered if you turn them down. When striking up conversation just find a mutual interest and go from there.
Like angel pointed out not all women expect men to make the first move. From my personal experience and observations from others, over thinking the dating world is NOT a good idea. Just keep it friendly and casual and if the other person is giving of signals of sexual interest, turn it up a notch (compliment looks ect)
