if I’m particularly bored or curious I can connect my SDR to the VHF antennas in my loft and within seconds I’ve got pagers of every ambulance in notts, some of manchester/lancashire and SW England on my screen with full addresss, patient gender and age (as well as all sorts else) Interesting to see how many young people randomly “pass out or get breathing difficulties” at weekends especially around popular night time venues.
I’m surprised all this is on the insecure pagers and not airwave as I used to scan pagers in the 90s and there was never any ambos so this must be a new idea but this also means there would be a lot of volunteer paramedics like ST Johns and part time ones on call outs as they get the pagers which are way cheaper than airwave radios ; have strong signal everywhere (normally its a pain keeping them out of radios when you want to monitor other frequencies) and do not need security clearance.
