any 1 know of partys more south of da country.
free parties have been heavily clamped down on in our area ; its winter as well so most crews are returning to the club nights. By “south” I tend to think of an area from Hants/Dorset all the way to the Thames Valley and London, but with licensed urban music venues becoming harder to keep going its worth being prepared to travel.
Look for these names on our calendar
Project Storm
Section 63
Itsy Bitsy
Re-Rave All (London)
or sign up to the mailing lists of Aztek.
Native Beats – do you have any suggestions (i.e are you lot doing anything soon?)
also the Boxing Club, Reading is now re-opened and should be doing 6am nights again… they will have a mixture of underground urban music and live bands depending on the night so its worth checking beforehand
parties have deffinetly been clamped down in the area but all is good cause i finally pased me driven test. soon i will be well prepaired for travellin just got to get my car.
OTOH parties can still happen if these things occur:
crews need to choose venues carefully, “derelict” but not dangerous places which would not have a large commercial value as an active warehouse. and well away from residential areas; the sort of place on the verge of being knocked down
they may have windows busted out, kids may have got in and trashed some bits and there may not be any services (bring gensets and drinking water then!) but I’ve never known a party in a place like this to be busted.
however if people take “between lets” units (which are usually obvious due to signposts and better security) its not surprising crews are busted for cJA, criminal damage, abstracting electricity and PEL laws. Avoid also places that may have been used previously but show evidence of being cleaned up, clearly someone intends to use that building!
its a numbers game as the estate management complain about the financial losses so the authorities try to take some of those losses back to the alleged party organisers. in some cases cops have even helped (by passing on names and addresses) building firms to launch civil claims against alleged organisers to recover the losses caused by party-related damage and disruption.
and everyone who attends parties needs to prevent any form of deliberate trashing – I don’t mean a few tags but stuff like wholesale destruction of a buildings useable infrastructure such as the heating and plumbing systems.
if the loos work, there’s no need to trash the pipes so they have to be shut off to prevent flooding and the toilet areas become open cesspools.
electric stuff should be left alone (unless its obviously decommissioned stuff and you have other plans for it and the skills and tools to recover it safely) – you do not know if it is live, and your screams may not be heard over the rig if you do get shocked!
its been said many times before but no one seems to listen – but every time a party building is trashed it either means it can’t be used again or further lockdowns on buidings and more legal action against crews.
