so i quit my job in disgust and my last day was last friday
had a much needed and very refreshing party over the weekend
have been a bit worried abut money as i have a family to support, but i know i have tons of transferable skills and a few skills to fall back on, but i thought there would be an interim period with nothing coming in
so i’ve been spending this week gloss painting the windows on a friend’s house
just from being stood up a ladder i’ve secured at least another 2 or 3 weeks work doing similar jobs for passers-by, who i assume saw i was doing a good job and liked my friendlyness
i might have to spend the summer as odd job man… it’s doing me the world of good so far… feeling fitter already (lose that office pot belly) and the least stressed i’ve been for months
and i get to choose my own hours.. ie. go swimming with my daughter or take her to playgroup which i couldn’t do with fixed office hours
go the summer :bigsmile:

excellent
long may it last
:horay::horay::horay::horay:
good stuff
it isn’t that “trivial” painting a window frame outside either! Many people do not like working at heights and gloss paint is nasty, messy, solvent-laden stuff, they would far rather pay someone else to do things like this..
so it is a good way of making a few quid 🙂

that heights and solvents combination is the one mate :surprised
first time up that ladder i had to take a gulp of air as i get serious spins from even watchin other people going close to drops… mad vertigo :omg:
by lunch time the first day i was balanced as a bird 😉
it’s good to know i haven’t lost some of the skills I learnt 10 or 12 years ago … especially when i’ve recently been finding i can’t remember what I did yesterday :rolleyes:
i’m a hard worker.. charging for work by piece I seem to be earning more now than when I had a ‘proper’ job… even based on a first half week… can’t wait to deduct my tools from my tax bill!

As long as theres food on the table, you can be a happy man. and the flexability of hours must feel really liberating compared to that 9-5 crap.
