    · Forces try to track down expected events
    · New surge seen as revolt against ‘chav’ clubs

    The Guardian

Police are desperately trying to find out details of a “mega” illegal rave expected to take place in the coming weeks, as forces across the country begin to report a significant resurgence in the free party movement.

First signs of the rebirth of the outdoor rave came last year, but partygoers now appear to be more emboldened to challenge laws brought in 12 years ago by the Conservative government to crush a scene that epitomised the dance and drug culture of the early 90s.

Forces admit there has been a surge in activity, including one party in north Cornwall that was attended by more than 5,000 revellers. Officers are warning landowners and the public to be on their guard after receiving intelligence that large raves may be being planned for weekends in August, particularly over the bank holiday.

The Devon and Cornwall police force is particularly concerned that partygoers will attempt to gather for a large rave in the West Country after the success of the event earlier this summer when revellers were able to sneak on to a disused airfield using a car rally as cover.

On a national level forces are working hard to make sure they share information about raves in the pipeline.

Thames Valley police is using Asbo legislation to try to take out prolific rave organisers, while police in Norfolk, another rave hotspot, this week urged landowners to make sure ravers cannot get access to prime party sites.

The so-called “rebirth of rave” is being put down by enthusiasts as a rebellion against the “chav culture” blighting many clubs and against the sort of music created by the likes of Coldplay…

IT LOOKS LIKE THERE REALLY STARTING TO CRACK DOWN ON THE RAVE SCENE NOW LIKE, THINGS ARE GONA HAVE TO BE KEPT ALOT MORE HUSH HUSH IF ITS GONA CARRY ON.

PERSONALLY I DONT SEE WHAT THE POLICE HAVE AGAINST RAVES, APART FROM THE DRUGS AND TRESSPASSING THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. THERES HARDLY EVER ANY FIGHTING/ PEOPLE BEING SEVERLY HURT AND WHEN THERE IS ITS NOT EVEN RAVERS ITS A BUNCH OF PISSED CHARVS THAT HAVE RANDOMLY STUMBLED ACROSS A RAVE AND THINK IT WILL BE FUN 2 TURN SOME ONE OVER.

FUCK THE CHARVS AND THE POLICE.

    EXCUSE MY IMPOLITENESS

DO YOU NEED HELP LOCATING YOUR CAPS LOCK BUTTON?????

one article in the guardian isnt exactly the full scale hype of the 90’s which brought about the cja,

i think there working out its better to let us have these events while imposing restricions (PEN Licences)

no not in the slightest. BUT CHEERS ANYWAY.

ITS COZ IM AT WORK AND ITS 2 MUCH HASSEL TO KEEP SWAPING BACK AND FORWARDS.

i think that it was an ok article. long live the rave

does this mean our raves are gonna now be full of Guardian readers in biodiesel fuelled vans making sure we clear up the rubbish and take it to the nearest recycling plant?

Yup either that or have a Col at each party.. he can’t stand ppl dumping rubbish and takes it upon himself to pick it all up and tie bags to the tents and put one by the fire too…

where’s this mega rave at then?

is Aaron Fuckhead organising it again?

    etc etc

I Think that instead of spending lots of time and money trying to stop free parties the authorities should maybe consider a comprimise.

If they can see that were fed up of commercial clubs and chavvy piss heads then surely thay can try and understand why we do what we do.

I’ve spoken to a few police at parties and some of them seem to genuinly sympathise and say they are only doing as the law tells them to.

Hopefully one day there could be an agreement reached where perhaps we can party in peace.

    Well I can hope anyway! :crazy_dru

I reckon a lot of cops realise raves aren’t that bad but when they’ve got 200 extra cars in a rural area, and lots of sketchy people swarming around they’ve got to look like they’re doing something because locals are complaining

I do think they make things worse by roadblocks as people aren’t just going to go back home after driving 100+ miles, they will just abandon their vehicles and try and find the venue on foot.

I’m glad the media have finally woken up to the fact that Coldplay are to blame :weee:

They quite often block the road as they dont want any more rigs turning up and getting in, and they are very scared of travellers moving on ti the site, as most rave sites would be ideal for them, and setting up home, which can cause the local police, council and public alot of distress
