  • this incident is nearly 7 years old.

Things have moved on since then – although environmental damage is inexcusable another issue is that until recently EN and Defra did not signpost these areas particularly well so people didn’t actually realise they were on an SSSI or similar place.

I find it hard to believe TBH that the Brighton lot would deliberately stomp pretty flowers etc… more likely a few idiots strayed into an area where they shouldn’t really have been whilst the rest of the rave would be set up in a normal grass field. Most nature reserves wouldn’t be much use for a rave site as they have long tall grass, brambles, midges, etc…

Last year there was a rave in Avebury where some of the land was a nature reserve; people were particularly careful to take note of the signs and not use the nature reserve area.

its a shame that rigs use sites like this as the people it annoys/offends are usually quite well off and have some power, but often they are the most out of the way and cause the least disturbance to the local public

im sure many rigs are oblivious to the fact that there on such special land, one nature reserve is no diffrent to the next for most munters, but a little consideration towards nature would be nice

not sure about the East of England but where I used to live a lot of people who selected venues actually did take particular care to avoid these nature reserve places.

Apart from the ecological aspects you are quite likely to get grassed up as people go to these areas at “odd” hours to observe birds/wildlife etc… (for instance mammals are often more active after dark whilst birds rise at dawn)

no problem – its good people are reminded of the potential ecological impacts of outdoor raves.

Furthermore, the fact that this article is so old shows how rare it is for raves to cause serious environmental damage… the main problem is only the people who use the area as a toilet (a preventable problem)

Dog owners can be pretty bad too.loads of dog shit round the nicer parts here, people seem to always pick up after thier dogs in the towns parks or beaches, but no one seems to bother when they in the actual countryside walks.
