  • Hi guys ,
just wondering roughly how long groups leave it between partys, cos its been a couple of weeks and the phone lines aint changed. Does it depend on the weather? or the scale of the last party (cos the kettering one was huuge)?
    Cheers

    there are no rules

Ok, but from experience is it possible to guess? Just wondering if i can party at the weekend or wait another week, or two :weee:

    sorry mate

Ah i see ya on ya honeymoon period then matey, Good to see new and fresh faces

welcome to partyvibe if i have not said this before

what usually happens is most crews have a break from 2-4 weeks before the next one – putting on parties is harder on mind and body than just going to them; you have to be there from start to finish (and often have to deal with any problems that occur and the cops)

and increasingly they cannot cane the same venue or the same area repeatedly, as the older locals grass up the event to the Police and there are even cases where the younger locals take matters into their own hands and try to fight or rob “incomers”…

if you are determined you can party every weekend but you need to be prepared to travel.

Remember though you need time to recover as well..

Fuck avin a Rest Party every weekend thats my motto i got enough party numbers to keep me happy everyweekend i love free partys the people the travellin the drugs and most of all the scenery of the partys i av bin to sum mad partys in Lovely locations. Partys do appen everyweekend but u just gotta av the rite Numbers. Keep Ravin M8 mite see u at One.

i used to partyevery weekend, but very busy as a dj but to be honest “last of the summer wine” is back on sundays so like to be home for that these days

haha you’d prefer to miss partys for Last of the Summer Wine? :you_crazy

get a tape recorder or summin :weee:

TBH If tou ran a free party you would understand that its not as easy as it looks. Let them have a few weeks to themselves and they will soon realise that clubbings shit again and go back to doing there free partys.

which is why last of the summer wine is the top notch!

    Guys

How many of you have full-time jobs?

I used to do a 50+ hour week, then run parties at the weekend, often actually working for up to 35 hours between Friday evening and Sunday lunchtime.

Don’t forget that when the party finishes, the rig needs packing up and taking away, and then often unpacking ( would be a shame to lose a van full of rig just coz too caned to unload it on Sunday).

At one time I was working in Liverpool, and running parties in the South East. My favourite weekend was a drive from Liverpool to Reading for a club show we were doing on the Friday night, then on to Brighton area for a free party on Saturday. Unload and pack away on Sunday then drive to Liverpool for work on Monday morning…700 miles for two parties.

Now, I don’t want to be bigheaded, and most of my mates and crew thought I was completely nuts, but I did it, and I loved it.

It did nearly kill me though (not the rugs and not the driving – just the sleep deprivation: big bags under the eyes etc are not very professional for work).

So – all I’m really saying is, go party every weekend, but be prepared to go to different rigs party’s, as you cannot expect your local rig to be able to find a fresh venue every week, nor to able to run an effective party if they are all knackered.

It’s not that easy to do them well, have a reasonable relationship with the OB as well as the punters, and not to kill the equipment or crew.

Back the rigs, and they will continue to entertain you.

    Nice

I was talking about 96/97 era.
Top job for setting up BASS – sorry its had its day.

Hope the scene revives in due course….
