In light of your comment about not letting the guy know where this link came from I have made the link non clickable. He will be able to see from his logs where the link is coming from.

Nice Find!:groucho::groucho:
I am aware of that site (was doing urbex in my mid teens long before I started raving!) – and the tensions between urbex crews and some party people (not all!)
I can see why he gets angry as a lot of buildings (particularly in cities) just get trashed 3 times over when they are raved; plus raves in industrial areas encourage the rentaguards to lock things down further and mistrust any group of young people trying to get access to buildings (such as the explorers). The “smashy smashy crew” and taggers have done a lot more damage than just buildings… they have given all ravers a very bad name.
It is an interesting site; but I wouldn’t really advise using it to select party venues.
Most of the venues on there would actually be highly unsafe to hold a rave in and many have rentaguards to keep out squatters and travellers (often they are guarded by traveller types themselves in an urban “poacher turned gamekeeper” scenario). They are also well known to cops and Fire Brigade as they get used for dog training and firefighters practice exercises.
Others look good on first sight, but are too near residential areas or are buildings with too many small rooms/corridors where scum can lurk and people can be attacked etc.
Many have the services disconnected (even water etc), and missing floors, asbestos etc. I wouldn’t even explore them alone whilst relatively sober (in case I met with an accident etc), let alone consider using some of the buildings for parties.
Also the urbex community is a wider group of people that contains lots of people who are more sympathetic to conventional society including rentaguards themselves and people who may be prepared to tip off the cops if they think a building will be targeted for raves.
If you are determined to put on warehouse parties you need to do your own homework and recce missions…
Yeah! If you go through some of the old threads theres some pretty cutting comments!!
although I don’t think the urbex lot can claim the moral high ground either (its still trespass) given the sheer level of vandalism that occurs as squat parties I’m not surprised at all.
I’ve seen buildings trashed to such an extent (including shit and piss everywhere) even the homless squatters don’t want to use them afterwards!
this guy was say that free partys had trashed a warehouse in shefeild and he found one of my photos on the internet where some old people picking up cans.
thay were colecting them to recicle them and give the money to a charity
From the name i thought it might have been an apocolyptic-survivalist type site.
I’ve also done a little bit of urban exploration, abandoned buildings are fascinating, and blagging your way into places where you’re not supposed to be, such as the roofs of tall building is fun (hint: the flourescent jacket is an access all areas pass) and the views amazing.
As has been pointed out, the urban exploration people can be pretty up themselves, which there really is no excuse for.
However, i have seen some outrageous trashing in my time, i think the worst and most pointless was the pressure guages in an old boiler house, every one of them had been smashed, it must have provided less than 10 seconds worth of entertainment, and had the people responsible for it been more intelligent they could have removed them and sold them on ebay and probably got a good price for them (they were in good condition before being smashed).
It seems to me that urban exploration is another of those movements that is most definately at the alternative end of the spectrum, just maybe some of its practioners dont realise it yet.
