FUCKIN ‘OLD BILL’ – TROUBLE MAKERS….
they do seem to be pouring millions of pounds into anti terrorism schemes already, and doin quite a good job IMO.
only one major attack in the uk so far.
in some ways I agree with what Ricky is saying – raves, particularly in the more optimistic days of the late 90s/early 2000s dot-com era, were at their best a good example of multi-cultural British youth enjoying themselves without causing excessive social problems!
A lot of Police resources are diverted from dealing with violent crime and terrorism (which is interlinked with gang activity – terrorists are merely gangs with better organisational skills) to keeping surveillance on the rave scene….
But – there is a big problem with a significant minority of ravers moving on to class A drugs, particularly heroin and cocaine. This has happened since the early days of the scene and can’t be denied.
Every bag of smack and every rock of crack sold in this country leads to crime, violence and often funds the terrorist groups.
Even for the “party drug users” I know of people who may not have been terrorists but they weren’t exactly loved-up mid week and would vandalise stuff and fight as part of the comedown anger…
Until this side of the rave scene can be stopped, the cops are always gonna keep a close eye on us…
This country has its prioritys all ass about face
I have to write and share a little bust story from 1993 (yep, we were doin it then!!).:crazy_dru
We had recently done a small party with Asylum in a massive warehouse on the A40 at Acton…in a little side room off the main warehouse.
A couple of weeks later, we decided to get together with a few more crews and use the whole building. Amongst others, Bedlam, Jiba, Asylum and Ooops! started a multi rig party.
The little one before had had no OB either through the night or in the morning – so we figured it was a cool venue.
However, at about 1.30am, OB came in through the door, on foot and in cars. Seeing as this was post Castlemorton and Pre CJA, we had met in advance, and agreed that if OB came, we would close up the party….
Usual stuff tho, some geezers (who don’t own thousands of quids worth of rig – funny that innit!?) wanted to thrash the OB, chuck stuff at em and generally keep the party going. We did finally manage to negotiate with the OB to close the party within the hour.
Anywayz – the point of me writing this, is that the OB were well pissed off…not with us, but with their senior officers. They weren’t “in support” of raves, but they could see that this one was causing no real problems. Certainly no more real than where they had been diverted from…..
….

:ar15: The IRA firing Mortar bombs at Heathrow Airport!!!!!!!!
So – even then , the ravers were more of a threat to society than the terrorists – ain’t nuttin changed these days:head_bang

I’d like to wholly agree – but raves are linked to drugs – and “drugs” (or more correctly, users’ lack of self-control) currently cause more deaths and disruption (particularly economic disruption) than terrorist attacks…
Although a few of us (myself included) have had near misses on the transport system due to IRA and extreme Islamic terrorist activity; our security forces are better at stopping attacks (including the planned attacks of the extreme right which aren’t always reported on) than many realise.
Far more people have had trouble such as having their house burgled by an addict funding their habit or have been robbed or harrased by a violent crackhead, or have had a relative or close friend overdo drugs and maybe even turn violently against them.
the NHS has to spend loads of public money dealing with party drugs users who have overdone it and present to their GPs because of depression or the other effects of binge drug use (and also alcohol) – also the Emergency admissions from overdoses..
This happens every weekend and every day; you dont (thankfully) get a terrorist atrocity every day even at the height of a world conflict…
we can’t expect the authorities and wider society to accept that ravers don’t always become problematic drug users when a fair proportion still do – also the “hijacking” of the term rave by the UK Garage lot doesn’t exactly give us a good name..
It is only literally now that people from this scene are waking up to the effects of drug use on themselves and others – 16 years after raves became a popular youth culture…
OTOH removing prohibition on personal use would remove a criminal market that funds a lot of political extremism and terrorism…
unfortunately its up to both the politicians and (non-drug using) people to wake up to this and I don’t see this happening for a while yet….

raaaraaaraaa
I think its going to take responsible ravers and drug users though to make the first few moves before there is any chance whatsoever of prohibition ending….
