  • i couldnt think of anywhere else to get some advice on rig building i no its a mega project i do but for now im just looking for a little advice

a lad offered me most of his rig from when he used to put on parties but i lost his number *DAMN!*

ive got access to finance but im generally just a little lost

so for now its just advice im looking to obtain

    thanks all, digital-a 🙂

What is your budget and how much storage space do you have? :groucho:

And how much if any experience of sound engineering do you have?

a few grandareenos and a little more if we really dig deep, theres quite a few wanting to come on the project but well i only trust a few guys putting their names forward, for storage my mates storage unit (about two cars wide and in length and about an average garage in height) ermm i personally dont have much, i only dj, but a few guys on the project have helped on other rigs but never put one together, so we have a little experience between us

    cheers all, digital-a 🙂

Are you looking to buy mix and match or handbuild your cabinets? [requires some woodworking experience and some investment in power tools]

IMO small and active [active crossovers] makes the best use of resources rather than large and passive.

Do you have a person who is handy with a soldering iron? or know one?

new or second hand amps? you will require rack mount flight cases for sure for ease of movement and protection of kit.

Are you treating this project as just the amps and speakers or are you including the decks and mixer in it too?

I am sure I will have more questions but answer these ones first please 😉

what are you looking for i have loads of cabs lying around from my old rig get in touch i will send some photos

i have an electrician friend interested in helping, he’s handy with a soldering iron. the rig will be built how it comes that may sound shabby but to be honest i dont want these parties to be the biggest things ever (everybody must be thinking ”how lame” but hear me out) in newbury there isnt a lot we have to travel quite a distance to most parties, im wanting to build and run something a little smaller and touch upon more genres than most tend to.

the set up will have decks and a mixer both cd and vinyl

tell me about these flight cases?

small is good – doesnt annoy others as much 😉

    these are flightcases

have a rummage and ask any questions you may have – flight cases are the best thing to move kit in all the time – saves damaging the equipment and makes it easy to move and stack. Dont rush off and buy any yet though:wink: you will need to have some idea what you want before buying.

i thought id heard of flightcases from my drumming days 🙂

yeah the rig will be mixed and matched and perfect for summer,

i just need to no if anybody can help me out 🙂

    thanks raj, digital-a
