  • Ended up staying in as some of my mates were out of the area and others were unreachable – and I could do with a rest anyway as I’ve been out 3 weekends in a row before that

was the party in East Anglia this weekend any good? (please don’t mention any rig names though)..

looks like there was, and here’s the first load of media coverage…

not too good, sounds like a young farmer couple with a kid got noised up.. and what fuckwits were chasing the (four legged) pigs?

    Hundreds at forest rave

Up to 500 people are at a rave in the forest near Swaffham which started in the early hours of today.

Partygoers began arriving on land between Cockley Cley and Drymere at about 2.30am and police attended after complaints from local people, including a pig farmer whose pregnant sows were chased.

Police officers – in conjunction with Forestry Commission officials – monitored the site all day.

No arrests were made but some people were cautioned for drugs offences.

A fire service officer attended after concerns were raised about fire risks but he said the danger was “low.”

Insp Bob Eagleton, of Norfolk Police, said: “We are monitoring the unlicensed music event and are gathering intelligence and still have all options open.”

Gemma Searle, who lives near the site, said she and her husband Adrian and seven month old son Louis were woken at about 3am.

She said police officers at the scene said they were “powerless” to stop the rave.

“I could hear the music like it was being played in my house. If they are going to do this they should respect the land around them.”

Mrs Searle said revellers had chased their pregnant sows, damaged gates to get on to the land and endangered the wildlife in the forest.

She said it was the fourth time in four years a rave had been staged on the land.

There was no indication when the event would stop and the warm sunny weather meant partygoers were in no hurry to leave.

The event came after a spate of raves around Horsey Gap, near Yarmouth, last month which caused a trail of damage at the beauty spot.

Police have also recently appealed to landowners to remain vigilant and immediately report any incursions onto property by people who may be intent on holding raves.

According to this news report, “Alpha 99” , the Suffolk Constabulary helicopter (Eurocopter EC-135, ICAO reg G-SUFF) was deployed to assist Norfolk police in monitoring the rave. (Norfolk do not have a helicopter of their own).

surely there should be designated rave sites, one for each area, so organisers dont need to keep on wrecking ppls sleeping lives, just have it in the middddlllleeee of no where, sure there would be a few problems but surely its easier than us trying to find places 🙁 and ruining pigs lives

it’s not like there is a lack of open space in that area

i thought the reason police gave for not intervening was that there wasn’t a sufficient amount of complaints cos it was in a removed area..? think it was in the e.d.p

yep – TBH both this and the other forest locations are actually some distance away from the nearest towns, and provided people don’t take the piss with stacks they soak up a lot of the noise.

this doesn’t mean however the cops have just ignored the event – they will still have recorded info on numberplates and vehicles – also Forestry can assess if there has been environmental damage..

Be careful not to confuse a lack of enforcement with actual acceptance of free parties by the cops and locals.

This is how my friends in my old area got caught out.

Where I used to live the cops let everyone “get away” with loads of parties until the end of the season, but what they were doing is working out which crew had which vehicle, who owned rigs, who were regulars and who were randoms, and where the money/drugs was coming from.

By autumn they clamped down hard and confiscated loads of rigs, sending in the riot squad to do so.

Amazingly the crews did get the kit back but it took 2 years to bring them to Court – each of 8 crews were fined £2000 which they had to find within two months or face jail.
