  • went to my rural country show, cos i love all of that farmer shit and rural sports, and guess who was there, the old Thames Valley Police (the special brigade) and one of my mums friends started talking to me about what he has just joined up to, well cut a long story short, they are setting up a nationwide countryside watch scheme, now i wont say tis the crappest thing in the world it does catch the pochers and horse rustlers and thieves out in the sticks. but this phone line will be an instant call out for the police if they think anything is suspitious. saayyy 20 cars and a van rolling thru their little village at 1 at night. so just to warn you that this is happening and i guess if u can help it try and not convoy it up

this has been around in many areas for a while and convoys are one of the main reason raves get busted nowadays. TBH although fun they became obsolete in the mid 1990s when affordable digital mobile phones became readily available

before that although mobiles were around they were risky because the same elderly nosey parkers often had scanner radios, they would grass up the party line and then for entertainment listen to the OB moving in on the party

Try telling this to the people in East Anglia though (where the convoy can often cause more trouble than the rave, particularly when some people drive like idiots)

Actually a relatives partner is on ruralwatch, he isn’t a nimby type but more of a hippy who doesnt like seeing environmental crime such as flytipping etc – there was a planned village hall party in one Suffolk area and they triggered the alert because of it, he actually thought that this was excessive and the crews should have been allowed to do the hall party..

they wont catch me poaching I’m the best 😉

hahaha u wanna bet, they have their ways, hidden camera, badgers as spies (why do u think badgers are “endangered”), helicopters made out of loadsa sycamore seeds, i could go on and on and on

Yep they do as they caught one of our local builders fly tipping with a hidden CCTV camera, think its a great idea as it named and shamed hims so everyone knew it was him and what company he owned :crazy_dru

hahaha, yeah i knew there was a conspiracy an old farmer told me there was a camera in one of the pylons up where the loacal “rude boy hill” is where all boy racers and ppl go to smoke and talk etc etc, and one day they caught this man with three ounces and instead of booking him they just crumbled his stuff into the wind, he was gutted, but i tell u cctv and hidden cctv is taking over the nation!!!!

If Lord Twat wants to put hidden camras up to stop me russleing his grouse I’ll just were a hood.
I remember me dad getting nicked with the local Inspector in a judges garden poaching phesants the coppers let them go when they realised they was nickin there boss :weee:

TBH I don’t think the countryside lot are that worried about small scale poaching any more, unless the poachers are causing damage – far fewer people do it these days anyway when its less effort to buy food from the co-op…

apart from raves its stuff like fly tipping, rural drug deals and theft of plant and equipment and animals – for that I suspect its the land managers/farmers themselves who are responsible for fuelling this trade.

After all townies like me are hardly gonna want to buy a herd of cattle and a load of fencing off people in a pub, there isn’t space for one goat in my garden..

i wouldn’t count on it. round here lots of land owners breed pheasant for ‘hunting’ (the forest is so thick with them that you couldn’t miss, so hardly ‘hunting’, more like shooting at random) and charge about £25 for each one you hit. in the butchers at this time of year you can get 3 for £5, as the ‘hunters’ give their game away after killing it

if you get caught pinching game, it’s money to the landowners, so they are likely to prosecute

true, but they have to catch people first, and decent poachers tend to be “closer to nature” and draw far less attention to themselves than other alleged rural criminals.

and in all the bumpkin newsletter round here I’ve seen loads of moans about flytippers, drug dealers and ravers but little about poachers (although maybe the estates are keeping schtum and letting it go as the animal rights lot recently exposed the reality of pheasant shooting, and even the daily mail lot went apeshit about this “sport”).

the reality of pheasent keeping is the reality, ppl who shoot have nothing to cover up, i used to be a underkeeper at an estate, and there were always birds that got shot but didnt die, but if we saw them we would always ring there neck and try and not let them have a painful, death. the only problem i have with pheasent shooting is the yuppies involved, some of them are right ol wankers i tells ya, they have no common sense, add a gun into the equation and u have a dangerous affair, especially when an owl comes at them and they still shoot it!!!!!

its more the fact that its become just shooting a intensively bred farmed bird at close range, it would be like if I just got a gun and fired a cap into a random goose in the courtyard…

heard of a few unfortunate incidents amongst the “hunting shooting fishing lot” (some of my relatives work at RBH emergency dept)
