I don’t think (on here at least, can’t speak for other forums) that there has been “speculation and gossip”.

There has been informed discussion about both the good and bad aspects of your recent event, mostly from a lot of enthusiastic young people who attended it with an open mind.

They highlighted (in particular) security problems, which I hope will be addressed, particularly as you are trying to get a middle ground where the authorities tolerate our sort of events which isn’t going to happen if they become a magnet for crime and dysfunctional behaviour.

In the late 1990s Exodus was a beacon of hope for a lot of people, both in SE and Eastern England – it united and inspired crews throughout these regions

What was also important to me was how you lot wanted to go beyond the weekend and create a community. (Are you still doing this or have you become “just another rave crew”?)

we all know that beacon got out of control (perhaps the flames of a few peoples passions fuelled it) and a fair few people got burned – so its understandable a fair few people are cynical, they aren’t just going to forget what went on at the end of the 20th century.

I just hope whoever is in Exodus these days can learn from past mistakes, and adapt and evolve along with the way the community (and wider society) has developed since the 21st century…

CATCH ME AND THE CST CREW DOWN THERE BLOWING UP THE PLACE WITH THE FINEST DRUM AND BASS:wink:

I would agree with you there that security is a big issue, especially in a town like Luton. And at the first event we were caught unawares as we were expecting 50 people and got 200!! The Exodus parties now are safe and the security presence is there, perhaps we need to make it more apparent as we did before (jackets or some other identifier) so that people can actually see that presence. People need to feel safe.

As for your question on our ‘community’, yes we are still persuing that way of life although things have changed since the 90’s. We are currently fighting Beds County Council in court to keep HAZ Manor so that that we can continue with our projects and self help concepts.

Also, I wouldnt say the beacon got out of control, I would say that some key members of the collective had an unworkable clash of philosophies which resulted in the entire collective splitting, we couldnt agree on a way forward. But i wont get into that here. Its a very long story that I dont want to air on the www!!

Indeed we have learned from our mistakes in the past, thats one of the reasons why this time we are taking things slow on a small scale to begin with.

I appreciate your positive comments and i suggest you come down and meet us at HQ. As I said at the beginning of this thread, the best way to find out where we are going with this is to come down and talk to us yourself.

Our intention is to drive this in a positive direction hopefully with the support of the massive, and to raise awareness on the issues surrounding our culture. Put some conscious thought and purpose back into raving, as opposed to the mindless ketamine fueled madness that I keep seeing at some raves these days!!!

Id love to talk more on this but as i said I dont believe in airing some of these issues online, be good to meet you all sometime, I hope you can make it down.

that risk exists anyway when you go out in the street wherever you are, even despite there being a lot of police and CCTV around these days.

Some parties can be sketchy, There is always a security risk when large male dominated groups of young people gather, but this crew has acknowledged their security issues and has shown a willingness to at least try and create a safer surrounding.
