I still believe in a lot of its principles but the problem is humans are so fucking greedy/dysfunctional that the principles need to be enforced (to ensure stuff is shared fairly and to deal with slackers) so it often ends up with a bureaucracy eventually becoming a dictatorship (at least on a large scale)

I’m no fan of capitalism TBH but I’ve been involved in so many alternative “socialist-type” ventures which have fucked up due to individuals egos that I’ve virtually given up on them and am just “getting on with my life” which most of the time is being a normal British citizen..

that said I still think workers co-operatives are a viable solution for many communities..

incidentally as an American, what image do you have of “socialism”?

I hear loads of Americans saying that “Britain/Europe” is “socialist” merely because we have stuff like public health care and a lot of other public sector organisations, and there is still a resistance to privatising everything and even a call for some stuff to be renationalised..

Now, a Stalin or Castro sort, yeah. That’s gay.

But a dictator such as Hugo Chavez, I could deal with that.
