  • snowing here in nw london for the first time since we had this cold weather

Snowin here too. Snow sorta pisses me off though. Doesn’t do nothing for me aha! :hopeless:

ah i just like a little snow each year it just means tomorrow i become a big kid again probably take a sleigh out too northolt hills its like a tradition now we do it once each year if it snows

plus my little boy will love me pulling him round in it his 1.5 years old

I loath snow, Its cold, its wet, it gets everywhere and it means I can’t go skate…….

    Pics or STFU! 🙂

Now its snowing here as well, light big flakes….too dark still for picts,

3-4 inches here (no complaints yet)

    105mm in my garden (SW Ipswich) – taken as mean of 3 samples { 110 , 120 , 85 } (all samples in mm) approx 08:00Z

Wind NW last night which makes the snowfall uneven where the patio door is, but i’m not going to walk to the other end of the garden wearing just trainers in this sort of weather to get a wider range of samples as it would probably be much the same mean figure anyway – also the nearby RAF aerodrome and a few clever local chaps have proper weather stations. still some light snowfall, not sure of flake size as that too involve standing around in the cold and I don’t have a 1mm grid anyway

This is 4.1″ for those still using old style units – worth stating both for the benefit of those in Europe although to confuse everyone more the UK still uses miles and feet for various official measurements but decimal fractions of them, making navigation in Europe harder for us (and vice versa)

    London (E) – 76.2 to 101.6 mm
    Ipswich – 105mm

it is about 60 miles / 96 km between these locations… still a bit dark for pics as well…

Pictures not worth taking because its only a thin cover of snow…50mm maybe.

I’ve just had a text from a friend who has a kyak and a car 😀

You’ve made me feel really lazy … I did my measurements by eye lol.

    it’s snowing in folkestone too !! i m so happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!

thankfully It’s stopped here, But Its still very slippery. Don’t think I’ll be going out as every time I’ve been out in the snow/ice, I’ve hurt myself quite badly……FUCKING SNOW, FUCK OFF!!!!!

to be fair the only reason I bothered is I wasn’t even sure how to measure snowfall so I looked it up and and this brainy uni professor suggested this method. there was already a olld broom handle and a piece of bamboo downstairs, these being perfect to stick into the snow and then mark at the top.

Visibility is really poor as is all the HF radio reception (maybe its linked) so can’t get any navtex or German weather for the north sea =-unless of course the damp trees are shorting my HF antenna to earth but fixing that also involves going out in the cold..
