  • FEATURING THE ONE SERIES (with SIMON SHACKLETON – Elite Force / Zodiac Cartel – 6-hour set)
LOWDOWN & DIRTY, COLOURSCHOOL CREW, STOMPAPHUNK, WUBWUB, iOCCUPY, CLASSIC SHORT FILMS in the CINEMA + MORE TBA

Imagine the perfect Country House Hotel, nestled in the shadow of mountains. Imagine the intake of fresh air, ancient trees, huge grounds, the lush panorama, the sense of space, of freedom.

Now add to the mix an amazing array of passionate party people, united by a love of quality music. Imagine the perfect sound of Funktion One, purpose-built LED DJ booths, video-mapped shapes and structures, cutting edge art installations.

Imagine a dream-list of high quality DJs and performers who *always* go the extra mile to ensure that the music you’re hearing is the *exact* sound that you need to be hearing at any given time.

Imagine that the music runs for 18-hours straight, with three different & unique stages.

If you’re looking to get your head down at some some stage or just needing somewhere to hang your hat for the event, we can offer a bed in one of the hotel’s dormitories or camping/camper van pitches in the hotel’s adjacent field. Alternatively, the surrounding area is renowned for its B&Bs and other places to stay.

All of these things are crucial to us. We want to create the mother of all house parties, an epic environment, a respectful and user-friendly crowd, and a shared experience where everyone feels they are a participant. Average & solid doesn’t cut it. This is all about taking music out of the clubs, and into the extraordinary.

Jesus H christ that looks good !

They put very bit of info apart from exactly where the venue is – it is in Wales (only just though)

haha yes, I can’t find what country it is in o.0

We will be running a number of Shuttle Buses from Hereford Station for those without wheels. Hereford’s easily accessible from almost anywhere in the country by rail or bus.

from a mail I got from Simon

    some more from the same mail;

Aside from my 6-hour ELITE FORCE set (the first time I’ve done this in the UK!), I’m thrilled to be joined by the Lowdown & Dirty crew from Manchester who will be bringing MEAT KATIE, THE LOOPS OF FURY & RESISTANCE to town. In the Music Room we’ve lined up an excellent line-up including techno legend PHIL KIERAN, Beatboxer extraordinaire THE PETEBOX and no end of deep & dirty eclectica with a line-up that includes Nottingham’s COLOURSCHOOL COLLECTIVE and the likes of RONNIKA, TRICOLOUR SUN, SWIMMING DJs, NEON JUNG and loads more.

For your daytime arrival, the legendary STOMPAPHUNK CREW are coming up from Brighton, featuring sets from WAZE & ODYSSEY’s SERGE SANTIAGO & DAVID PARR (Rekids) and joining the local WUBWUB team (who are working with Orbital and Sacha no less in the coming months). There’s also a Short Film Festival created by SIMON ELLIS that kicks off the weekend on Saturday lunchtime. More acts are to be announced ….

We will have Funktion One Sound in all three rooms. We will be creating a custom LED Booth for The One Series set I will be doing. We have Meat Cassette down from Manchester to project, and video-map to make the spaces come alive. We may well also have an awesome Art Car and soundsystem to greet you on arrival (more details to follow!) …

Went to Boomtown crew party there a couple of years ago, pretty sick venue and they make a good bacon butty in the morning. See if you can find the hidden swimming pool/sauna round the back of the dressing rooms if you can (but watch out for the moody caretaker dude as he boots you out and swears at you).

Please note, this event has been cancelled.

It’s with an extremely heavy heart that I have to inform you that unfortunately we are cancelling our RISE event at Baskerville Hall scheduled for 11th May.

It’s been an incredibly difficult decision to arrive at, but costs have escalated beyond our control and we genuinely have no other option than to cancel the event with immediate effect.

I’m hugely sorry for the inconvenience and want to thank you for your support and help in buying into ‘RISE’. We are the victims of tough economic times, and in trying to do something new and different

EVERYONE who has purchased tickets for RISE for tickets or accommodation will be FULLY REFUNDED via Paypal in the next 24 hours, using the email address you purchased from.

We are all GUTTED to have to make this announcement having worked tirelessly on making this happen over the past two months. I’d like to put out a extra special thank you to Gower Preston for his amazing design work and to Craig Whittaker, Aubrey Fry, Tom Reed, Meat Cassette, Martin Chandler for being extremely motivated and passionate about making this happen.

Much ♥ and massive apologies once again

STEREOPHOENIX PRESENTS RISE at Baskerville Hall Tickets | BASKERVILLE HALL Powys | Sat 11th May 2013 Lineup

    :hopeless:

Shame, but promoters across UK really need now to work together and be fully honest about what these costs are.

Folk on alternative scenes berate govts and big corporate companies for “burying bad news” and excessive corporate secrecy so its about time to be open and transparent here.

What is the real problem here?

Licensing fees rising? (unlikely as they are normally set by Councils each year and there are votes before they can be raised and you can find this out)
Extra police charge? This happens, but again should be discussed openly – a lot of smaller promoters seem to just walk away when faced by these rather than even attempt to negotiate these, which leaves the field open for bigger promoters who pay them without dissent (hence why Glade moved to East Anglia as the blue light service fees are cheaper in the East than London/SE)

Or is the reality they hadn’t sold enough advance tickets to guarantee the cashflow?

I’ve heard a few people on the UK events scene hint that some promoters are essentially ordering services on credit without the cash reserves or other assets on the balance sheets to pay for them, that is trading when insolvent and can actually get you nicked….
