not sure how many folk here remember (or are old enough to know) that Cosgrove Hall did all the Captain Kremmen animations for Kenny Everett which had lots more adult themes.
on the DM video compilation (unfortunately my VHS of this is mislaid) there is part of one episode that I think never got shown on CITV as the IBA would have hauled Thames over the coals for it for the content.
There isn’t any particularly explicit animation (it is just the static DM logo at a bit where the announcer Isambard Sinclair usually says various random stuff) but just as he starts you hear the door (which in a TV studio is heavier than normal to make soundproofing better) being kicked off its hinges.
Stilleto and his friend bust in – the announcer (Isambard Sinclair) is then dragged from his chair and getting roughed up; each punch can be clearly heard. The table microphone stand is also knocked over (this makes a particularly distinctive sound, there is also a jump in the static logo at that point) and is left open during the fight.
When Isambard is eventually on the deck (it takes a while as he is also making an attempt to defend himself) he is clearly being given a proper kicking before being dragged out.
It is all done in sound onlly but it is exactly like a scene in the Sweeney or Minder.
Baron Greenback then sits in the chair; puts the microphone stand back up again and takes over the announcements….
the cartoon also dates from a time when TV studios did often get invaded by political activists and journos attacked in various ways 😉
