There is a minimum number of posts required to view some sections – this is to avoid issues with spammers and/or people who were putting themselves in danger of being traced and arrested by their countries authorities as they were trying to do stuff like buy and sell controlled drugs online. Although there are legal grey areas with some substances and each country has its own laws; a site like this increasingly has to obey every countrys law if it wants to continue operating without excessive hassle.

I do not know the exact number of posts required myself and it can vary from time to time to prevent people trying to game the system. Many popular forums now operate like this; some (albeit discussing far less controversial subjects) even require much more personal information – although I believe the base number of required posts has been reduced from what it used to be.

not sure exactly what you mean but if you mean you sometimes get errors on some old links that can occasionally happen due to the .com and .org content being split a few years back.

In these cases there is a chance that a link to a post elsewhere on this forum may give what appears to be a permissions error that “you are not authorised to view it” or you end up back at the top page of the forum but the reality is nothing has been hidden; the post is just not there under the old index number (it might be on .com).

I’m having similar problems. I’ve tried changing .org to .com and it didn’t seem to help.

see above; there is a minimum post count to unlock the drugs forums. We had to put it in to stop people attempting to use the forum to sell illegal substances and getting themselves in trouble (which has happened in previous years). It is not a large number though.

this reminds me a bit of the old Network 23 / Teknival mailing lists, which around the time of teknivals ended up with everyone writing messages in any combination of English, French and German (sometimes all 3 of these languages at the same time within one post) and yet people still somehow managed to understand one another :laugh_at:
