incidentally to put the river incident into perspective..
There were about 5 people carted out of the recent Tidy Weekender by Ambulance after overdoing drugs. A further number of revellers (about 5 or 6 more) presented to the nearest Emergency Dept suffering from various (thankfully minor) effects of drug over-use…
All this occurred at a licensed event with full compliance with licensing regulations, presence of paramedics etc…
So even with the incident synthetic circus was far safer IMO – but of course unlike Tidy no one pays towards the potential costs (a lot of licensed even ticket price goes straight to the cops and council!) which makes the authorities angry
But its a matter of our self-control as well – if we can’t look after ourselves, the nanny state will do it for us… (and make us pay for it!)
