i don’t know why i started, but i think it was just curiosity. in the mid 80s there wasn’t much info out there except ‘just say no’ which is just such obvious bullshit
bizarrely, when i was 12 – 18 i was far more careful about trying new substances and would spend more time researching a substance before i took it than i do now
fags: 1st to try them, then for the headrush, now for the addiction
alcohol: 1st because i could get served age 12, so buying booze for the kids in the street bought popularity and drinking gave me confidence. now i drink to lubricate
hash: 1st because it was there, then because i enjoyed it and laughed my ass off (i rarely smoke it anymore)
acid: to take my mind to another level
speed: it was there. i ragged that fucker until i went mad
e: do you need to ask? really?
amyl nitrate: to bring on the rush
mdea: cheaper than e
mushrooms: they are like acid, but better. you can see god and still go to bed at a normal time. one experience everyone should have
cocaine: to feel like a king
heroin: because my mates did it. then because i needed to. then to pass the time
crack: to see what all the fuss was about. it’s rubbish. crack heads are unimaginative
methamphetamine: nothing else was available. I wouldn’t do it again
2ci: it was there. it’s fun
piperazines: to see if they lived up to their name. they don’t, but they do help a weary man have a good social occasion, although the next day is a total right off, of the worst sort
mescaline: see mushrooms, with a bigger commitment to dealing with god (16+ hours)
salvia: years of drugs experiences leads me to seek greater experiences. if salvia lasted an hour it might teach something, but it’s hard to learn anything in the state of total disorientation which ends in a few seconds. i’ll try it again sometime.
in short, most drugs are interesting and / or powerful
