  • In the 70s/80s at stonehenge free festival for instance drugs served more than one purpose, they were currency, they were for taking in solitude, and they were for the taking and bringing together of friends strangers dogs geese in a place that was peace and ours while it lasted.

Thankyou for sharing your dream wally hope RIP mate…..:devil_wag

Went to a small party on sat and had a great time. No drugs taken and sore legs after lots of dancing.
    raaa

If I want to take drugs i’ll take them whether i’m at a party or not.

I go to partys to enjoy the music, atmosphere and meet like minded people who i can chat cod shite to all night. I have met some of the most amazing people at partys who are now very good friends of mine and always will be.

For me partys are a way of life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I suppose some people might only come to get muntered but if they do its thier loss coz they’re missing out on the whole experience but each to thier own – after all it’s all about freedom of choice.

    :bounce_fl :bounce_fl :bounce_fl :bounce_fl :bounce_fl :bounce_fl

    its all about the musikkk:wink:

I dunno… They’re not JUST an excuse to have a few dinks or whatever, but they’re a really good one.

I really like the whole vibe of parties, though, which is the difference between them and a club. In a club, you get the feelintg that people are more concerned with how they look than anything else, whereas at a free party, it doesn’t ACTUALLY matter (except if you’ve got an OB uniform on 😉 ) and it doesn’t matter about anything, really, except that you’re having a good time and so is everyone else. If you want to go and chill out by a tree or whatever, you CAN! It’s all good!
Their “wider cultural significance” is that it gives people an alternative to what they might normally be obliged to do, which is important.

In my mind, choice is vital to society and I think that mantra that someone said before really hits the spot; Freedom Reigns, Enjoy Everything!

    Fucking damn right.

no bouncers … no bars … no plastics

… plus the tunes are bangin 😉

    i love ’em i do x

could not have said it better myselfraaa

What’s all this ‘excuse’ ting about?

People don’t need an excuse…they’re either into their class A’s, B’s or C’s….or not….location has got absolutely fuck all to do with it. Don’t get me wrong…there’s those that do…but they don’t stick around long enuff to register on any radar.

Most of the drug fiends i know have only been near a fileld when the fair’s on….get real will ya….

    Pffft.

are pubs just an excuse to drink booze ?

for me it started as an excuse but now its a lot more. still get munted but not the only reason to go. being outside when the sun comes up (not that its happened this year) to some fat tunes playing is one of the best experiences, and just appriciating some countryside is siick

i like getting to the party in complete darkness then finally seeing the countryside surroundings when the sun comes up when munted

    yeah i do love that

i remember going to a free party years ago in Halifax. It was dark when I got there and I thought there was a stone circle, castle and campsite so we were quiet not to wake up the campers.

Anyway as daylight came we realised we were in a paintballing place and the stone circle, campsite and castle were all cardboard cut outs!

There was a stretch limo at the party and they drove it onto the dancefloor and ppl were doing lines of various powders in it. The limo was covered in mud inside!

what you guys said . . . love free parties at dawn seeing the surroundings, an everyone else!

my favourite is those parties near water, either beach, near a river or stream, or at some resevoir somewhere .. .nothing quite like a skinnydip if ur in the right frame of mind! :devil_wag:angel::devil_wag

I spent 10 years on the new traveler & free festival/party circuit up until 2000. I’ve recently come out of a 5 year break and gone back on and got a rig together with a few other ex travelers (though there’s the saying “you can never leave the family”)

I originally left the scene as d&b and ketamine were taking over and the vibe was changing.
We used to go to partys & drink water all night and take 1 pill as alcohol cancels out the effects of E. Thus people would get pissed and take 5 pills instead. I never thought es were getting weaker its just people wanted to get more fucked up.

These days I think the attitude is get as fucked as you can though not from everyone. I personally dont take drugs anymore and I’ve stopped drinking at party’s as I like to be on the ball and make sure everyone else can enjoy themselves in a safe manner.
