TBH I’m sure if you went up to North China and spoke to them chaps you’d probably find they’d far rather work in a factory building computers or MP3 players or concocting the latest RC’s than ill-treating raccoon dogs but they don’t have the oppportunities to do so as North China is a more backward area due to it size and colder weather.
racoon dogs aren’t bred for fur in South China as its hot – and they have shorter fur so aren’t in demand there. (if you keep them in England this also happens). In the high tech, affluent bits of China anyone found ill-treating animals will eventually be set upon by loads of middle aged 5 foot Chinese women wielding fake handbags (and who all have done national service and know at least some kung fu) :laugh_at:
the old bill out there often need to discourage these ladies from taking everything in as pets, think of an Oriental version of the crazy cat lady but a multi-species one :laugh_at:
