    not sure

by the time K actually became popular in my area (late 90s) most of the brew crew had either cleaned up and sorted themselves out or self-destructed

the people who brought in K IMO were more the trustafarians who had the resources and time to go to foreign countries where it was more easily available and set up the dealing networks

then people realised the profit was as much as pills for a fraction of the risks..

yes money seems right . and its cheap .value for money. at what cost ?:crazy_diz

well I don’t actually think its killed the scene (it was already sufferening from problems by the late 90s simply due to the darkside of drug culture in general), but I think its recent use has sucked out a lot of enthusiasm and energy out of people

The short-term memory loss and disorientation ends up fucking up everyones vital organisational skills at a time when the opposition to parties is as organised and vehement as it could ever get and that isn’t good at all.

Although K gives some euphoria and removes a bit of paranoia if done in the right doses its not the friendly happy buzz that you once got at least at the peak of a rave – nor the buzz that makes you want to talk to new people.

Although I’m fairly quiet at raves I do try and chat to people and on occasions I find a lot of people way too mashed to interact with or because they don’t “know” you (i.e you’re not in their snorting clique) they are a bit para of you – yet when I first started raving and until the mid 90s it was all about wandering around the place, meeting new people etc…

I do think people here (East Anglia) are trying to do less of it but its hard as another reason people do K is because they’ve already binged on MDMA and other stimulants, had bad comedown/paranoia experiences and thus already lost the good feelings from these drugs.

K doesn’t initially have a “comedown” (until you start caning it loads and paranoia can start to kick in) so it fits in with todays binge culture..

I do find it a bit sad when I see people 10-15 years my junior already in that state where they need to do tons of anything to get high,

Although most of them don’t actually totally fuck up to the point of needing rehab/treatment they often “burn out” a lot quicker and give up partying as early as their mid 20s…

Sometimes I feel like telling them “check yourselves a bit, just do slightly less now and you can have years more fun” but I when I’m outside at a party I try to just “ave it” not to come across as a patronising oldie…

i do take K at parties, though I agree with the points you have made GL.

i think i take it cause in the morning you have done the pill thing, and you waste your time trying to get high on pills once its over, you just keep putting more chemicals in your system without anything happening

K does not help with communication, but i often find myself at that time in the morning with nothing to say anyway (though i do sometimes get dead chatty) and sometimes feeling a bit listless. at least when you have ket something happens

as for people doing a “your not my snorting clique thing” they are clearly just cliquey people, I’m usually happy to dole a bit out and have had people i don’t know give me K when i ask, no problem

killing the scene…? people always say stuff like that about everything

i’ve been doing free parties (on and off) for about 10 years, and i reckon its pretty vibrant right now (but maybe i’m just getting back into it right now…)

People moving away from stomping rave and instead making yawnsome music killed the scene! All that 200 bmp stuff with high mid-range (kills you ears) and low low bass grrrrrr. And if it’s not mindless punk-gabba it’s all that shouting lager lager lager dogboy dogboy drool.

p.s. there’s lots of DnB tracks that i like, and lots of Gabba.

oops i’ve just realised that’s nothign to do with the thread in hand sowwy :yakk:

being an occasional raver ive found k a hindrance at parties .compared to the empathy of mdma

empathy of e? yes mostly, with some people

sometimes (esp if i’ve been drinking quite a bit too) i get cynical on pills and and a bit mean, also loads of people aren’t friendly (well to me at least) even thought they are on on, they still stick to their own little groups (and this isn’t when i’m in one of my “mean” ones)

So what’s better for comedown Special Brew or K? Personally I prefer things that end with ‘pam’, although K can be a right laugh in smaller doses.

Ahhh temazies, sweet memories, along with moggies, rarer than hen’s teeth nowadaze

got a few diazipan that i brought back from india – great for getting to sleep on long journeys. never thought of taking them at parties – are they not just going to send me to sleep?

valium . the most successful pharmacutical drug ever! always handy .

Officially Diazepam/valium is a muscle relaxant or anti anxiety drug. temazepam, lormetazepam, nitrazepam and others AKA benzodiazepines are your sleeping variety. I find they take any edge off nicely after pills, speed and other party drugs. Can be habit forming though…
