Ive Just started to make my own sound system not expecting to finnish for a few months but if anyone else has built there own speaker cabinets or other equipment i would like to know.
We have built a few bits and pieces in the past. We have sold it all now and moved on to other bits of kit.
Building a rig probably has a lot more self satisfaction involved though!
Good luck with it all. Would be good to see some pictures of it through the production stage if you are up for sticking them up.
I take it you will be buying the amps though?
Its all coming together now
Got 4 double 18″ sub boxes from a club for free the other week just in the prosces of cleaning and painting.
2 15″ mid range
2 12″ mid range
2 double tweeter boxes
got crossovers and EQs
only need amps
and about 8000w worth
What are the double 18’s loaded with?
We have 2 QSC RMX4050HD’s for sale that might run them very nicely.
If the drivers are 8ohm and 600w or under then they’ll be perfic.
Quality amp and they are only 1 year old, bought from new and in MINT condition.
£680 each 🙂
You going to be running 4way then?
i am really intrested in buyin them amps…. where abouts are u situated?
Yeah we gonna be running it 4 way
We buying new drivers which ones would be best suited to them amps.
I was thinking of Eminence Omega Pro which run at 800w RMS which should be ok since ive just looked at the spec of those amps there just what we are looking for.
It’s more of a question of what driver would be suitable for the cabinet. Do you know the cabinet design?
I’m guessing you’ll be running 1 double 18″ cab of each channel of the amp yes? If that’s the case then make sure you get the 4ohm version of the omega pro. This will mean each channel will be delivering 1600w through 2ohms.
Ideally it’s nice to have a little bit more power in your amp in comparison to your drivers so that the amp has more to draw on during transients and you can also push the speaker hard without fear of clipping.
But yeah, they will give you the power you need.
An ideal power to match the amps would be a 600w 8ohm driver in my opinion. But again, you should try to match the driver spec to the intended driver the cabinet was designed for.
If you are still intersted then send me a private message mate 🙂
