  • I have suffered with Narcolepsy with Cataplexy for 4-5 years , Narcolepsy is a auto immune disease that decided my immune system should kill the only neurons in my brain that produce the proteins Orexin and Hypocreatin. So since we can’t regrow neurons or simply take the proteins in a pill, so I am sentenced to a life stuck on drugs. The proteins Orexin and Hypocreatin are responsible and needed to regulate sleep and dreams. Recently it has also been discovered that Orexin and Hypocreatin are responsible for addiction. For normal people when you sleep you go through 5 stages of sleep.

Stage 1 When we are preparing to drift off, we go though Alpha and Theta, and have periods of dreaminess, almost like daydreaming, except we are beginning to fall asleep.

Stage 2 The second stage of sleep lasts about 20 minutes. Our brain begins to produce very short periods of rapid, rhythmic brain wave activity known as Sleep Spindles. Body temperature begins dropping and heart rate starts slowing down.

Stage 3 Deep, slow brain waves known as Delta Waves begin to emerge during this stage. It is a transitional period between light sleep and a very deep sleep.

Stage 4 This is sometimes referred to as Delta Sleep because of the delta waves that occur during this time. Deep sleep is like your battery recharge. Stage Four is a deep sleep that lasts for about 30 minutes. Sleepwalking and bed-wetting typically happen at the end of Stage Four sleep. (This does not include the problems that can happen with sleep medications like Ambien and Lunesta).

Stage 5 Most dreaming occurs during Stage Five, known as REM. REM sleep is characterized by eye movement, increased respiration rate and increased brain activity. REM sleep is also referred to as paradoxical sleep because, while the brain and other body systems become more active, your muscles become more relaxed, or paralyzed. Dreaming occurs because of increased brain activity, but voluntary muscles become paralyzed. Voluntary muscles are those that you need to move by choice, for example, your arms and legs. Involuntary muscles are those that include your heart and gut. They move on their own. Rapid eye movement, or REM sleep, is when you typically dream. You may have images float by in earlier stages, particularly when you are going through Alpha or Theta, but the actual dream state occurs in REM. This period of paralyzation is a built-in protective measure to keep you from harming yourself. When you are paralyzed, you can’t leap out of bed and run. Do you ever feel like you can’t escape during a dream? Well, the truth is, you can’t. You can breathe, and your heart is working, but you really can’t move.

Normal sleep cycles / Sleep does not progress through all of these stages in sequence, however. Sleep begins in Stage One and progresses into stages 2, 3, and 4. Then, after Stage Four sleep, Stages Three, then Two are repeated before going into REM sleep. Once REM is over, we usually return to Stage Two sleep. Sleep cycles through these stages approximately 4 or 5 times throughout the night.

Narcoleptic people are cursed with being tired all the time because we have 1 stage of sleep and that’s stage 5 rem. Normal people get restful sleep in stage 4 and your brain gets a break. A narcoleptic brain never sees rest and because of dreaming while your brain is awake really can screw up your memory. Myself when I was hooked up to brain monitor the average time it took me to fall asleep was 3 min, once asleep within 30 seconds i went to stage 5 rem sleep. That is why most of us Narco’s are lucid dreamers, lucid dreams for me can be a awesome time until you experience a lucid night mare and are afraid to go back to sleep.

I am on a anti OCD drug to stop my cataplexy and I switch between Ritalin and Dexadrine to help me stay awake. Honestly It is speed and it does help me, but I can crash so hard off it sometimes . I am in a few Narcolepsy groups on Facebook. Mainly Americans get Xyrem because there insurance pays most of it . And once people use GHB for a week or 2 they get there life back, because ghb can induce deep sleep. That is what I seek deep restoring and restful sleep.

Unfortunately Canada medical will not pay any of the roughly 9-11 thousand a month Jazz charges. There is only the 1 drug company Jazz that have the patent on GHB. So I am trying here to find out how or where to buy [SIZE=-2]GBL, gamma-Butyrolactone.

If needed I do have a copy of my diagnosis to prove I am only seeking this chem to get a drug that in my case is strictly medicine. I only want my life back . I am Begging for help . I am also pretty sure my specialist will give me a RX for Xyrem. So if I do not ever make more then my monthly RX the police cant touch me for possession. Only thing I would be breaking a patent .
