I am writing to you to inform you about the big changes at The ChavScum Forums. As a registered member, you will have noticed that the tone of the forums was very adversarial. In particular new users do not feel very welcome as strong contingent of mainly embittered teenagers and various other Internet keyboard warriors, took it on themselves to abuse every member. It is now my aim to turn the forums into a real community rather than an online abuse outlet. I want to build a forum where people can discuss current affairs, politics, sex and popular culture in a pleasant adult atmosphere.
I have tried to achieve this goal through various means so far with little success. I have tried creating a dedicated flaming area, to ‘keep the crap in the valley’ so to speak but that didn’t work. I have also tried verifying new users before they can post, but this didn’t work either. I have come to the conclusion that the only way to achieve a pleasant online experience for users is to apply some lessons from real life. If you want to remove yourself from the more unpleasant members of society, the way to do it is to pay that little extra. E.g. Paying for a gallery seat or the Deluxe Screen at a cinema.
This is why I have decided to make The ChavScum Forums subscription only. The users who have already subscribed are enjoying a totally different atmosphere, reminiscent of the early days of the forum before it attracted the attention of what can only be described as ‘Internet Flotsam’.
Subscription rates start from £3 a month rising to £5 for premium members who get their own custom sub-domain yourname.chavscum.co.uk and forwarding email address yourname@chavscum.co.uk We are currently in the process of installing many new benefits for our users over the next month, including a blogging and live chat system. All subscribers enjoy the forums without any advertising. Any revenue raised from the subscriptions goes to pay the hosting bill of chavscum.co.uk and chavtowns.co.uk
