For anyone who’s interested Radio 1 are featuring a program on the scene tonight at 22:30…
In fact the program makers actually approached us last month asking to feature the site so Globalloon obliged them with a phone interview…
and conveniently enough this will be after my show so everyone’s happy! :weee: raaa :weee:
Wahay!!raaaraaaraaa
Aye – i know a few people who were interviewed …
Don’t get ur hopes up though – i think the guy who put it together had good intentions but he really didn’t know much about the scene – i think he was looking to just capitolise on the hype .
Shame – coz he interviewed people who r in the know and who were really keen to help make a honest informative documentary and he promised to let them help in the process and be involved but as soon as he got his paydirt he just vanished .
Hell – he even promised he’d tell every one when it was due to air … instead we get a e mail from party vibe – (nice work guys !)
Anyway – definately worth listening too even if just to get cross at another gross misrepresentation of our scene (or maybe not – i hope ).
On another radio front :
ILLFM tomorrow night Thursday 28th 8PM GMT – MIDNIHGT –
DDR (Stay up forever) (Thats right ! DDR) ,
BLACK MASS PLASTICS (Thorn Industries ) ,
YEAH NO YEAH
and
DANGERMIX (Who we might have to throw out on air for being scrounging bastards ….
Check the site – http://www.ILLFM.net for link to the live stream and chek our archived sets (Over 100 hours of audio and counting !!!)
Oh and our new MSN chat room – Search for live@illfm.net to be invited to the chat room from 8.
Keep it ILL.
Just spoke to the interviewer … he tells me its been changed signifigantly from the original format – now focussing on Rural raves + Bristol … no mention of community or art ,
however there will be a phone/text/email discussion with DMT + cheirf of Essex police …. could be interesting !

TBH I always felt the media were two or three years out of date and they are only interested because of the wider public backlash the large moots/raves of a few years ago caused. The initial trigger for this was probably from the crime reporters of local newspapers noticng the cops were dealing with more illegal events.
The story has trickled down to the arts reporters but however idealistic young journos may be they may be they will always have a number of other staff above them who can make editorial decisions and overrule their own views.
Ofcom obliges all licensed broadcasters to present a “balanced view” and not to “glorify crime”.
As unlicensed raves can be deemed illegal; broadcasters such as the BBC are therefore obliged to give airtime to the Police as well as the ravers. (the regulation of print media is somewhat less harsh).
After all there are 5 or 6 high profile websites devoted to discussing raves (both legal and licensed) so we can hardly claim our views are going unheard or being stifled…

in his defence he called me today to tell me what time it would be aired
he explained the format has changed, so a lot of the interviews have been cut down – there will be some of this audio follwed by a discussion on free parties (don’t know who will be involved in the discussion). he explained that he had no control over the change from straight documentary to this format
is bbc radio 1 available on the internet???
Shit, i’m at work.
Do radio 1 keep all their shows online for a while? (im sure someone told me they do), or will someone be putting it on here.
