  • Cheers! This the friendliest forum, ever 😉

I’m currently making a documentry on the free party scene. More specifically im trying to make a series of docos based on ‘Feedom of the land’. I’m planning to make documentries covering squatting, urban exploration, guerilla gardening (a group who go to run down areas at night and plant flowers (amazing!!)) and other such activist groups. The free party scene is something i have just got into, I love the spirt and decided it needed to be captured on film.

Now, I don’t know how you guys feel about this. I want to get feedback before I start. The good news is there is nobody above me telling me to butcher my work and obviously i want to stay true to the scene (no added water), this is an inderpendant production with no buget.

I will not take a camera to film without the consent of the organizers and the fellow party goers.

Thanks for your ears, any feedback or futher ideas on the doco would be more than welcome.

    Cheers,
    James Mackie

    Hi James! welcome to partyvibe!

The biggest problem at the moment is that currently photos and videos of free parties are increasingly being used as evidence in criminal and civil court cases in order to identify and bring before Court people involved in free parties, and recover perceived costs from them.

Its as much of a risk to you as anyone else there will be lots of cops who would want your raw DV footage and may be prepared to get the Court Orders required to trace you via the Internet.

Places like murdochspace and youtube (and your ISPs) will hand over personal info as soon as they see a warrant card – for this you can thank the terrorists, thugs and gangstas who have made use of their own sort of video activism and hotted things up for the “positive but mischevious”

Also London area free parties are not always friendly places and a DV-cam has a street value – you will have to watch your back all the time. People have aslo tried it before either intrusively and pissed off ravers or worse there has been covert filming for anti-drugs Tv programmes
