Any one know bout any free parties in Edinburgh 24th of this month? March, 2 days before the public smoking ban in Scotland!! Cheers!
Well we were all ready and set to do a party on saturday night there up at yon’ Quarry (if you’re an Edinburger, and I’m assuming you are, you’ll know where I mean), a link up with 2 new edinburgh systems Lost’N’Sanity and Candyflippin’ but unfortunately the latter pulled out at the last minute and it turned out to be a bit of a non-starter what with the rather adverse weather conditions.
Never fear, give it another couple months (i.e. when it actually starts getting nice and warm) and the parties should be back and kicking.
eh Munch do u live in the same scotland as me???? nice an warm eh??? on the east coast??? mental mate…vlol:bigsmile:
Aye we live in hope, eh? At least it’s generally drier on the East than the West 😛

Ahh, cool, shame though! Dunno what the quarry is (yeah, am in Edinburgh!)but ma brother been to a few and said they are wicked, so hope next time goes ok!! What music the systems play? Sounnds good though, will keep an eye out in future
cheers!!
I think Candyflippin’ were planning on playing house and hardhouse, which wouldn’t really have been to the liking of the majority of free partiers I know, plus there’s always that sort of folk that it might bring along… LostNSanity made a deal with candyflippin that they would only play hard house at the very beginning of the night (i.e. before most folk arrived!).
I had been going to play with LNS and I had a bag full of ragga jungle and breakcore (to play as the sun came up), some other guys were gunna be playing industrial breakcore & gabba, but on the whole I think it would mostly have been hardtek and hardcore (as is generally the case in Edinburgh).
That sounds cool, not the house muzic, I f’ng HATE house muzic with a capital H, and you are right about the people it attracts, without sounding too judgemental, cos am not! Playing at the start before people arrive sounds a good one :horay: ragga jungle sounding well good, i fff-ng love it mate! Industrial breakcore sounds well good too, never been to a party in Edinburgh before, just a few clubs like the venue which was ok, theres no good jungle night here is there? The d’n’b night @Venue are ok but not heavy enough I found, and whats with the lighters???? People holding thier lighters above their head, its no bloody Elton John is it??:laugh_at:
Nah, the tunes u talking about sound much better!!
hi,
i’m also coming to edinburgh from dublin for easter wkend, would be bleeding deadly if there was a party going on somewhere, especially one playing breakcore or jungle,
anyone knows of one keep us posted,
cheers:bounce_m: :horay:
Haven’t heard of anything yet for the easter weekend but i’m sure there will be something..
Main thing is how long it goes on for as lothian an borders police do not like free parties and shut them down pretty quick…
it’s wierd the perception of house music in general
cos i remember house when it was more than just music
when it was a groove
a feeling
a lifestyle
and no-one knew what house was
these days there seems to be a perception that house attracts stuck-up, over-dressed, snobby people… the free parties in these parts attract smiley people that dance all night… and the music is deep and groovy…
not to say I want to listen to it all night, or even very often! but can say the same of techno, acid, D&B
locally, D&B, techno parties seem to attract a very young crowd, who just want to get as wasted as possible, while house crews still seem to attract positive, happy, dancing crowds of all ages
is this just a Devon thing?
cos i remember house when it was more than just music
when it was a groove
a feeling
a lifestyle
and no-one knew what house was
to be honest if we hadnt had house the rest wouldnt exist; its all dance music and pigeonholing the music doesnt really do anything good for it or its people:rant::rant:
thats just more divisions in the party scene and creates music snobbery and closed minded ness ;:rant::rant:
a good tune is a good tune regardless of which style its in:get_you::get_you:
variety is the spice of life:rant::rant::rant::rant:
youknowsit
:satisfied
I agree it should not be put down by all the haters! Im not the biggest fan of house but you got to respect!
I’m back an Munch….the Candyflippin folk didn’t pull out. You heard they did pussied out an went home. Then the police turned up while we were setting up and it all went wrong from there.
We’ve got some stuff planned for soon so keep your ears to the ground an that.
It may be sooner than you think 😉
