not quite true unfortunately, a lot of the old guard overdid things as well, back in the 90s heroin rather than ket was the “comedown/afterparty” drug, hence so many people on here now asking for help dealing with heroin addictions.
the most recent backlash started in the late 90s but was overshadowed by the fact that Britain was booming economically around that time..
if anything the youths today are often more clued up, but it seem that they start and stop partying a lot earlier (like its all fast tracked).
that is actually why its often hard to get party info- the turnover of people is really fast so you could know people the start of the season and they have stopped partying within a few months..
you sound fucking old too.
lol im 16
EDIT: were u talkin bout me?
EDIT: were u talkin bout me?
no mate, i was talkin to dream
I’ve been to a few parties round that way when I lived in Reading, but what has happened is exactly the same as round these ends or at the Ridgeway in SE England.
People have rinsed the venues, rinsed the ketamine and rinsed themselves. Lots of people have burned out recently or got tired of cop hassle so there are less crews doing parties
Also, there has been a backlash from the rest of society which just sees youths destroying themsleves with drugs, so both cops and journos are sticking their noses in to glean whatever info they can (including using undercover tactics)
Therefore, the remaining ravers have been put on the defensive – these days they are more and more wary about sharing info with others until they’ve gained trust. Newbies on any forum are initially viewed with suspicion until they contribute for a bit and get to know people. The days of making one or two posts on a forum and getting info (or even finding whole partylines on the forum which people once got away with!) are long gone…
i dont think thats necessarily the case with the forest of dean, i went to an absolutely amazing party there, it was a really united party – all ages, everyone helped tidy up sunday afternoon, i was sat down with a lovely couple from the forest and they said they came to party there every weekend with their two children, never got shut down by the police and always a good vibe
no one was really that messy with the drugs and if they were it didnt affect anyone in a negative way at all
yeh ive heard the scene is gurd around here just wanna go party lol
which is exactly what East Anglia was like earlier this year. I know the FOD parties can be good too as I was raving there just a couple of years ago, and people even drive up from Essex and London to get there. The problem is that wherever you are, it just takes one or two sketchy parties and sketchy people to bring things on top for everyone..
a friend of mine from Gloucs pretty much destroyed his mind on ketamine and other drugs, sadly he is not the only one from round those ends who seems to have done so. started out as a “sketchy but funny” geezer and then proper lost it. It still hurts me to think about this as he was once a good friend to all of our crew (the biggest shame is that if he hadn’t lost it he would have been the first person I would have thought of to help out Death_Blooms find a rave!)
all it takes is a very small minority to fuck up and the media seize on it, in the same way ethnic minorities get a lot of hassle after recent world events when the bulk of them are otherwise positive people.
Even if cops don’t or can’t stop all the party (as most rural forces are underresourced) you get all sorts of rum things happening with media types scouring every forum for info and in some cases trying to get info “undercover”.
The BBC in the West have been running a lot of reports on ketamine (in a similar way to how in the East they have reported on the raves a lot more than they once did.) Often the media do try approach ravers for “their side” but no one (understandbably!) trusts them to protect their sources – and when they a “no comment” they will run their story anyway, and often only the cops and locals get their say in the final reports. because of the negative coverage you then get a load of locals demanding “something must be done” and a vicious circle of police clampdowns and often more and more media coverage.
Hence people on all the internet forums become more and more wary – it becomes a bit more difficult for young newcomers to get info about parties or even share memories via galleries and youtube as the media just use all the footage for “investigative reporting”.
I hope Death_Blooms does find something, although I think due to weather a lot of crews will be doing indoor/legal events for winter and those are good places to meet people, gain their trust and find out where underground events are at. (I think he is already looking in the right places anyway )
yeh i think im gonna find some indoor events for the winter, comeing to think of it and phat new year partys goin on? (I mean legal ones)
btw probs doin a legal party in the fod soon sometime in febuary
