FREE PARTIES UNDER THREAT IN FRANCE

The french National Assembly is ready to pass an anti-free parties law on june the 26th allowing the confiscation permanently of sound systems and live sets etc…Aware of this alarming situation french sound systems and artists have united and engaged in negociations with governement officials and the National Assembly. Unfortunetaly talks held with the Home Minister have been suspended due to the unwillingness of the latter to listen to us.

This means foreign sound systems organizing parties or going to Technivals in France (which will not stop) could face problems. This law could also inspire legislators from other countries to follow suit and adopt their own versions of the Criminal Justice Bill.

HOW TO HELP THE EUROPEAN FREE TECHNO SCENE ?

There will be demonstrations taking place outside french embassies and consulates throughout Europe and in New York saturday the 23rd of june at 2.30 p.m. local time. It is imperative you go to defend freedom of expression and freedom to dance ,circulate this letter to as many people as you can wherever they are by any means available ,contact the correspondants of the french press (Agence France Presse, Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération…). Bring banners, homemade T -shirts, radio-cassette players….Each group should bring a petition signed by as many people as possible

under the following text.

“The prospect of France, a nation traditionally at the forefront of the defense of human rights, restricting the freedom to demonstrate and repressing an important form of artistic expression which has become a worldwide phenomenon is deeply disturbing.

France has been a major contributor to the success of electronic music and french techno has gained recognition on a international level due to free events.

By introducing a hurried improvised legislation the french governement will bring irrepairable damage to underground music, not to mention endangering the existence of many artists and sound systems all over Europe .

We invite the french governement to cancel the project and restart negociations on a fair bilateral basis with representatives of the sound systems and artists. Furthermore we announce that we will attend free events in France this summer to protect freedom of expression and the right to dance for free.”

LES FREE PARTIES MENACEES EN FRANCE

L’Assemblée Nationale s’apprête à voter une loi anti-free party le 26 juin permettant la confiscation permanente des sons, live sets etc…Conscient de la situation les sons et artistes français se sont unis et ont engagés un dialogue avec des représentant du gouvernement et du parlement. Malheureusement les négociations entamées avec le Ministère de l’Intérieur ont été suspendues en raison du refus de ce dernier de nous écouter. Celà signifie aussi que les sons étrangers organisant des fêtes en France ou se rendant à des Technivals ( qui ne s’arrêteront pas! ) risquent des problèmes. Cette loi pourrait aussi inspirer le législateur dans d’autres pays à suivre cette voie et écrire sa propre version du Criminal Justice Bill.

COMMENT AIDER LA SCENE TECHNO FREE EUROPEENNE ?

Il y aura des manifestations devant les ambassades et consulats de France à travers l’Europe et à New York le samedi 23 juin à 14H30 heure locale. Il est impératif que vous alliez défendre la liberté d’expression et la liberté de danser hors des structures commerciales: faites circuler comme vous le pouvez ce texte auprès d’un maximum de gens, contactez la correspondants de la presse française dans votre pays (Agence France Presse, Le Monde, Libération, Le Figaro), emmenez des calicots, faites de T-Shirts, apportez des radio K7 portables… Chaque groupe de participant devrait apporter une pétition signée sous le texte ci-après:

“La perspective de voir la France, nation traditionnelement à l’avant-garde de la défense des droits de l’homme, restreindre le droit de manifester et réprimer une importante forme d’expression artistique, qui est devenu un phénomène mondial, nous préoccupe beaucoup.

La France a contribué grandement au succès international de la musique électronique. La techno française a obtenu un reconnaissance mondiale induite par la scène free. L’introduction d’une loi improvisée dans la hâte en France créera un dommage irréparable à la “underground dance music” du XXIème siècle, pour ne pas dire qu’elle mettra en danger l’existence de beaucoup d’artistes et de sons dans toute l’Europe.

Nous invitons le gouvernement français à retirer le projet de loi et à reprendre une négociation bilatérale sans préjugés avec les artistes et les sons concernés. De surcroît nous avons l’intention de participer à des événements free en France cet été pour protéger la liberté d’expression et le droit de danser gratuitement.”

LE FREE PARTIES MINACCIATE IN FRANCIA

L’Assemblea Nazionale si appronta a votare una legge anti-free party il 26 giugnio, laquale consentirà la confiscazione permanente dei sound systems, live setes, etc.. Cosciente della situazione, i sound systems e gli artisti francesi si sono uniti ed hanno iniziato delle trattative con degli rappresentanti del governo e del parlamento. Sfortunatamente i negoziati in corso con il ministero dell’interno sono stati sospesi grazie al rifiuto di quest’ultimo di ascoltarci. Questo significa anche che i sound systems stranieri che organizzano feste in Francia o che si rendono a dei Technivals (che non si fermeranno), rischiano dei problemi. Questa legge potrebbe anche inspirare altri legislatori in altri paesi a seguire questa via e a scrivere la lora propria versione del Criminal Justice Bill.

COME AIUTARE LA SCENA TECHNO FREE EUROPEA ?

Ci saranno manifestazione davanti alle ambasciate e consolati francesi attraverso l’Europa e a New York, il sabato 23 giugnio alle ore 14.30 ora locale. E imperativo che andate a difendere la libertà di espressione e la libertà di ballare fuori delle strutture commerciale. Fate circolare al massimo questo testo in tutti possibili modi, chiamate i corrispondenti della stampa francese nelle vostre città (Agence France Presse, Le Monde, Libération, Le Figaro…), Portate degli striscioni, fate degli T-Shirt, portate radio cassette a pila etc…Ogni gruppo di partecipante dovrebbe portare una petizione firmata sotto il testo seguente:

” La prospettiva di vedere la Francia, nazione tradizionalmente all’avanguardia della difesa degli diritti dell’uomo, restringere il diritto di manifestare e reprimere una importante forma di espressione artistica che e diventato un fenomeno mondiale, é molto preoccupante.

La Francia ha contribuito grandemente al successo internazionale della musiche elettronica. La musica techno francese ha ottenuto un riconoscimento mondiale indotto dalla scena free. L’introduzione di una legge improvisata in fretta creerà un danno irremediabile alla “unederground dance music” del XXIsimo secolo, per non dire che mettera in pericolo anche l’esistenza di tanti artisti e sound systems in tutta Europa.

Invitiamo il governo francese a sospendere la sua proposta di legge e a riprendere una negoziazzione bilaterale senza pregiudizzi con i rappresentanti degli artisti e dei sound systems coinvolti. Intendiamo anche partecipare ad avvenimenti free in Francia quest’estate per proteggere la libertà di espressione ed il diritto a ballre gratuitamente.”
